Exposition Three
Matthew 27:55–56 ESV
55 There were also many women there, looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him, 56 among whom were Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Joseph and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.
Side Note: Women
This is not a point of the text but is worth mentioning.
Matthew uses women as witnesses to establish the story of Jesus.
This would have appeared odd to the ancient world as Women were not viewed as reliable witnesses.
Our world today wants to claim that Biblical Christianity constrains women and treats them as inferior to men.
From the beginning, that has not been the case.
So what do we see attested to by these women? We see that...

III. The accounts of Jesus death, burial, and ressurection are accurate. (55-56)
