Question
We need revival in our country but it is not President Trump’s responsibility, it is ours.
How are we going to have revival?
We need revival in our churches but it Pastor Hewitt’s responsibility, it is ours.
We need revival in our world, our country, our churches and our homes but it all begins with us!
We need revival in our homes and again it is our responsibility.
Encyclopedia of 7700 Illustrations 5068 How to Start a Revival

Gypsy Smith was once asked how to start a revival.

He answered: “Go home, lock yourself in your room, kneel down in the middle of your floor. Draw a chalk mark all around yourself and ask God to start the revival inside that chalk mark. When He has answered your prayer, the revival will be on.”

—Missionary Worker

“I’m not waiting for a move of God. I am a move of God!” William Booth

Step 1: It starts with me.

Scripture:
We want to have a personal revival. Revival in our families. Revival in our churches. Revival in our land.
I believe to achieve that, there is only one place to start, and that is in God’s Word.
There is a portion of scripture that says, “the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.”
I would say the church growing everyday would be a revival.
Please understand that it is not about numbers. It is about health. But the truth is, healthy things grow and I believe that includes the church.
If we want revival like we see in scripture I believe we should look at what they were doing when revival began.
Now understand this was not REvival, is was vival.
Where do we begin?
Acts 1:8 ESV
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
As Christ was speaking here he told the disciples they “will by…witnesses in Jerusalem.”
Where were they when Christ told them this? In Jerusalem.

Step 2: Start where you are.

Acts 2:41 ESV
So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
Acts 2:
Acts 2:41–42 ESV
41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. 42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

4 Key Practices

We see what the four key practices the early church participated in.
1. Teaching
We must be devoted to the teaching of God’s Word.
When your pastor is preaching, you are to be listening.
We must spend time daily in God’s Word, not just at church on Sundays.
Average American spends 24 hours a week online.
The average American spends 4 hours on their phones each day.
The average American spends 8 hours a day (including streaming) watching tv.
Ya, 2 hours a week at church should do it.
2. Fellowship
Again starting with you and in your family. When was the last time you had an electronic-free meal in your home?
Who is speaking into your life?
Who’s life are speaking into?
We need a Paul in our life and a Timothy in our life.
“Show me your friends and I’ll show you who you are going to be.” -Dad
3. Breaking of Bread
This could refer to participation in the Lord’s Supper, or to sharing in others together.
4. Prayer
I don’t believe the church (including myself) fully understands the weapon we have in prayer.
It is simply dialogue between God and us.
Get in your prayer closet.
Get on your knee’s and fight like a man.
Acts 2:43–45 ESV
43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.
Acts 2:43-
Not a political stance but I will say if the church did what it was supposed to do we wouldn’t need to have the government programs that we have today.
Acts 2:46–47 ESV
46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
Early Christian gatherings took place in two places. The temple and the homes of believers. Church and our homes.
Acts 2:42–47 ESV
42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
Acts
Living out God’s Word will lead to numbers being added day by day.
Acts 2:42 ESV
And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
