มาระโก 2:23-28

23 ต่อมาในวันสะบาโตวันหนึ่งพระองค์กำลังเสด็จไปในนาข้าว และเมื่อพวกสาวกของพระองค์กำลังเดินไปก็เริ่มเด็ดรวงข้าวไป

24 ฝ่ายพวกฟาริสีจึงถามพระองค์ว่า "ดูเถิด ทำไมพวกเขาจึงทำการซึ่งพระราชบัญญัติห้ามไว้ในวันสะบาโต"

Mark 2:23-28

23 And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn.

24 And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?

25 And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him?

26 How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?

27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

God the creator of the Universe, set the example of resting by finishing the first week of the earth by resting.

13 จงทำการงานทั้งสิ้นของเจ้าหกวัน

Dueteronomy 5:12-15

12 Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.

13 Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work:

14 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.

15 And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.

Notice the purpose of this law, to remind them of how God brought them out of the SLAVE labor of Egypt where they had no rest!

The Sabbath Principle Is Explained

Deuteronomy 6:4-7

4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

We are to teach these things in our homes

Nowhere in the NT is the Sabbath recommended for Christians to observe on Saturdays. The Sabbath is not a holy day for us.

When the apostles gathered in to decide about the Jews who were telling the Christians at Antioch that they needed to keep the Law of Moses, they didn’t say anything about the Sabbath.

The Principle of the Sabbath is here explained for us to understand that man needs rest and the “PRINCIPLE” still applies

2 And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might accuse him.

4 And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.

5 And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

6 And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.

หลักการถูกนำไปใช้ The Principle Applied

I believe everyone should have a day off per week. I believe we need to come together to worship the Lord. If we can combine these times to be on the same day, I believe that is best as we have a free day to consider what the Lord has taught us in our devotions throughout the week and at church.

Jesus is not condemning the need for rest…He is pointing out that the rules the Pharisees had made were actually a burden to the people.

However, there are times when you should not come to church...

Sickness

Accidents

Motorcycle/Car or transportation issues

Emergencies

Grief over the loss of a loved one.

Emergencies with your animals

(if time permits: Colossians 2:7-16)

A couple of weeks ago I made mention of the fact that many times we are not on time for church because we don’t really plan to be on time or even a little early. I was not trying to be like the pharisees and pick at anyone. I knew this message was coming!

I do not want church to be a burden to anyone, but God does expect us to come together to worship Him (; ). The NT Christians had far more frequent meetings than we do, through the book of ACTS they met daily.

All I saying today is this, IF you have some real reason why you’re late or unable to attend, I understand and I believe that God understands.

But are we late or skipping out on Church just because we do not manage our time properly?
