John 1:10–14 ESV
He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
God Incarnate
Humbles Himself
-The Creator steps into creation
Colossians 1:16 ESV
For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.
-Jesus humbled himself- The perfect creator comes into an imperfect world. God, who is worthy of all worship and honor, comes to earth as an unknown helpless infant.

b. Personal God
Psalm 33:13–15 ESV
The Lord looks down from heaven; he sees all the children of man; from where he sits enthroned he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth, he who fashions the hearts of them all and observes all their deeds.
-“dwells among us”
-“dwells among us”
-It is a miracle that Jesus comes to earth, but that is not all he did. He dwells among us. He understands our trials and struggles, joy and happiness, loss and sorrow. He was fully human and not spared from the hardships of life.
Romans 9:30–33 ESV
What shall we say, then? That Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith; but that Israel who pursued a law that would lead to righteousness did not succeed in reaching that law. Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were based on works. They have stumbled over the stumbling stone, as it is written, “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense; and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.”
Hebrews 4:15 ESV
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Psalm 33:13–15 ESV
The Lord looks down from heaven; he sees all the children of man; from where he sits enthroned he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth, he who fashions the hearts of them all and observes all their deeds.
Matthew 20:29–34 ESV
And as they went out of Jericho, a great crowd followed him. And behold, there were two blind men sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried out, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” The crowd rebuked them, telling them to be silent, but they cried out all the more, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” And stopping, Jesus called them and said, “What do you want me to do for you?” They said to him, “Lord, let our eyes be opened.” And Jesus in pity touched their eyes, and immediately they recovered their sight and followed him.
-Healings, Feeding of the 5,000, death of lazurus - Jesus shows compassion, love and emotion.
2. God Rejected
a. Whole World Rejects
-The World did not recognize the creator
i. Sin has caused a separation
Genesis 3:9 ESV
But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?”
Isaiah 59:2 ESV
but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.
b. Israel Rejects
-Jesus is rejected by His own people. God’s chosen people (Israel) have seen God move in countless ways; miracles, prophets, freedom, wars, kings, blessings, etc. These should have been the people to embrace the Messiah. They were constantly looking and waiting for him, instead they rejected.
-Israel has a habit of rejecting God’s guidance.
1 Samuel 8:7 ESV
And the Lord said to Samuel, “Obey the voice of the people in all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me from being king over them.
1
2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV
if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
3. God Received
-Not saved through our will or the will of the flesh, but through the will and work of God.
a. Born of God and become his children
-Jesus changes the nature of Israel. Israel is no longer a nationality or religious based. True Israel is Spiritual, based upon our faith in Christ.
John 3:5–6 ESV
Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Romans 11
Romans 11:17–20 ESV
But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree, do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you. Then you will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear.
b. Shows Grace and Truth
James 3:17–18 ESV
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
