What is your definition of wisdom?
Here is what wisdom isn’t:
Wisdom is not the same as intelligence

The Source of Wisdom (vs. 1,2)

The Word of God
From it we gain access to wisdom
There are other places to acquire wisdom, but they will always agree with the word of God. If it contradicts the Word of God, it isn’t wisdom.
One of the other places we learn wisdom from is experience. While this is valuable a proper study of the Word of God can help us avoid some bad experiences .
From it we gain understanding of wisdom
This speaks of the application of wisdom. Taking the Word of God and applying it to daily life.
Questions?

The Success of Wisdom (vs. 3,4)

Wisdom leads to character
You cannot do the right thing if you do not know what to do
You cannot avoid the traps of sinfulness if you are not prepared
Examples of people that stray into sinfulness
Wisdom can be attained by all
You cannot use your lack of experience as an excuse
You cannot blame your lack of wisdom on your intelligence
You cannot blame your lack of wisdom on your education
The one trying to make you believe you cannot be wise is the enemy.

The Search for Wisdom (vs. 5-7)

It is your responsibility to gain wisdom (5,6)
You have to pursue God through the Scriptures
You have to ask God for wisdom

5 Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God—who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly—and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith without doubting. For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord, 8 being double-minded and unstable in all his ways.,h

Your relationship with God dictates your relationship with Wisdom
Explain godly fear vs. terror
It is a respect for God that will drive us to seek Him for wisdom. Without we will seek our own will, opinion.
A person is foolish not simply by a lack wisdom, but by the lack of desire to pursue it.
It takes time
It takes humility
It takes surrender
Spirutal truths cannot be understood by the unsaved
