The Power Of Agreement

Matthew 18:18–20 NCV
“I tell you the truth, the things you don’t allow on earth will be the things God does not allow. And the things you allow on earth will be the things that God allows. “Also, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about something and pray for it, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. This is true because if two or three people come together in my name, I am there with them.”
Matthew 18:20 AV
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
1. The power Of agreement: If two of you on earth agree about something and pray for it, it will be done for you by my father in heaven.
So consider this text in the realm of a marital relationship. ( if a married earthly couple agrees about something and prays for it, it will be done for them by my father in heaven. )
Agreement : have the same opinion about something; concur, harmony or accordance in feeling;
Amos 3:3 NKJV
Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?
2. Two standing back to back can conquer, but three strings is hard to break..
Ecclesiastes 4:12 NCV
An enemy might defeat one person, but two people together can defend themselves; a rope that is woven of three strings is hard to break.
Ecclesiastes 4:12 NLT
A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.
Threefold Cord is not quickly broken
Seventy-Seven Irrefutable Truths of Marriage 49. Make Marriage a Three-Fold Cord—The Two of You and God

49 MAKE MARRIAGE A THREE-FOLD CORD—THE TWO OF YOU AND GOD

What’s at the center of your marriage? The love you share? Your children? Money, homes and possessions? Your hopes, dreams and aspirations?

What?

Covenant marriage puts Jesus in the center. Without God at the center, your marriage will never become “one flesh.”

God keeps you together even when you don’t “feel in love.” God’s Spirit heals hurts and breaks bondages. God at the center of your marriage empowers you to live to your fullest potential both as a couple and as persons.

God is at the center of your marriage when you pray, study the Scriptures, seek His presence, worship, give, witness and live a holy life.

God is not at the center of your marriage when you ignore His Spirit as you make decisions, solve problems and live life your way instead of His.

Try this: Agree upon where you will worship together. Set aside time to pray together. Seek God’s presence as you read Scripture and fill the atmosphere of your home with worship.

And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

Eccl. 4:12

Ecclesiastes 4:12 NLT
A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.
Triple Braided cords is not easily broken.
The Trinity consists of the father, The Son & The Holy Spirit.
The marriage consists of The father (you get the trinity), the husband & the wife.
3. The power in the agreement rest in the ability to have a strong Prayer life.
Praying for your spouse is the most effective action you can take to help your mate grow spiritually and relationally.
So how do you pray for your spouse?

Agreement. Pray for your mate’s needs. Keep a prayer list. Regularly pray through that needs list that your spouse has.

Intercession. Pray with your spouse. Agree in prayer for whatever is on your hearts.

Praise and Thanksgiving. Give thanks. Praise and thank God for all that your spouse is and does. Give thanks for both gifts and talents.

Protection. Place a hedge around your spouse (Job 1:10). Pray God’s protection around your spouse. Cover your mate with the protecting blood of Jesus Christ so as to nullify every attack of any enemy.

Confession. Confess and repent. If there are any sins that you both have committed as one flesh, go to God confessing and repenting of those sins. If we confess, God promises to forgive (1 John 1:9).

Of all that you can spiritually give your mate, prayer is the greatest gift. Pray without ceasing for your mate and watch God change both of you for the better.
Keep a prayer journal recording both what you prayed and how God answered your prayers.
James 5:16 AV
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
