Winter In The Word Where the Rubber Meets the Road #6 If I Knew Then___________________ If you could go back and give your 16 year old self a word of advice, what would you tell you? In the first 11 chapters of Romans, Paul has presented the problem of sin and all its’ consequences. He has also presented God’s plan for being both The Justifier ______________ and The Redeemer _____________ of everything and everyone touched by the death curse of sin. At the end of chapter 11, after exploring the no-holds-barred love God has applied to his offer of reconciliation _____________, Paul erupts into an exclamation of praise and thanksgiving. Romans 11 33 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! 34 “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” 35 “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?” 36 For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen. Underline the descriptions or exclamations that reach out and grab you. Once we come to a mature realization of God’s love, what should our appropriate response look like? Romans 12 1Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Let’s dig around in this for a while. 1Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to _________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God _________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ —this is your true and proper worship. _________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, _________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. _________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. _________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ What part of this lesson did you especially need to hear today? _________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ I Love You Lord I love you Lord and I lift my voice To worship You - Oh my soul rejoice Take joy my King in what You hear May it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear Bill & Gloria Gaither - I Love You, Lord (Live)
