What steals your Happiness?

Matthew 6:24 ESV
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
“Accepting Jesus” is not just adding Jesus. It is subtracting idols.
Ezekiel 14:3 ESV
“Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their hearts, and set the stumbling block of their iniquity before their faces. Should I indeed let myself be consulted by them?

Before the Fall! Humanity found its meaning, purpose, and happiness in God.
Idol = Anything we praise, celebrate, fixate on, and look to for help that’s not the true God!
Isaiah 31:1 ESV
Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses, who trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel or consult the Lord!
Many times we look to freedom in things that enslave us!
The Glory of God should be our chief joy and happiness. God should be our main reason for living!
Romans 5:12–14 ESV

What seeks your Happiness?

Matthew 6:33 ESV
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

A Life that stood out as a gospel of Self-Forgetful Service. He could have added Fortune to Fame, but caring for neither, he found happiness and honour in being helpful to the world.
Unhappiness is the ultimate form of self-indulgence.
People who think a lot about Christ and his grace, the great doctrines of the faith, and how to love and serve others tend to be happy people.

He has promised me eternal life with him and a wonderful family of brothers and sisters on a New Earth in a resurrected universe. One day he’ll welcome me into his never-ending happiness.

When we tire of the Gospel story- when it fails to startle and amaze us - we need to ask God for a renewed sense of the suffering of Jesus and his overflowing love and joy, which are at the heart of our faith.
