Amen, take your Bibles to CV turn to 1st Samuel 1st Samuel chapter 18. 4 Samuel 18 and What continuing r-series we start a couple weeks ago? This series is pretty short for the month of February. And what are Victory Sunday? We celebrate it last week. I was celebrating 39 years of the Lord's church here in Evanston and what a blessing that is and we celebrate that last week. And so we kind of took a break from our series and looked at a message in the book of Jeremiah compelled to continue with God and that the Lord wants it to continue and I hope that the Lord continued just speak into your heart throughout the week regarding not quitting just keep on moving forward and this week we'll get back to our series. We started 2 weeks ago on loving together with God and and we looked at the example of really the Lord Jesus and given the Commandment that we are to love one another which is a very difficult thing for four people in the flesh. We see our nation is not a a nation that really Portrays a a loving your neighbor example all too well, but you know what the the strength of the Lord and his guidance we can love those who the Lord puts in our path and tonight. I still want to touch on love, but I want to look at an example of love in the Bible which is really a picture of the Lord Jesus and what he does in our lives, but that is the love of Jonathan the love of Jonathan and we find in 1st Samuel 18 and will be are our main text verses 1 through 4. We find Jonathan is the son of Saul King. Saw the first king of Israel and Jonathan was was a man of war a mighty man, but there was something about Kim and David's relationship. I love that grew between them and we're going to look at that tonight about the love of John Cena verse number one of chapter 18 of 1st Samuel.

Made an end of speaking. I just saw that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David and Jonathan loved him as his own soul assault took him out day. I would let him go no more home to his father's house. Then Jonathan and David made a covenant because he loved them as his own soul. And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe. That was a pawn in and gave it to David and his garments and even a sword at to his bow at to his girdle and David went out with whoever saw sent him and behaved himself wisely. It's all said him over the man-of-war and he was accepted in the side of all the people and also in the side of Saul servants. Let's go to the Lord in prayer this evening father we pray and we thank you for this opportunity to be in your house tonight for the love of Christ that is bestowed upon us. Father help us to just show that love to one another to those that you put in our path and father that we too would be a show for this love like Jonathan a friendship a loving a friend a friend that sticketh closer than a brother follower thankful For Your Love toward us and we pray tonight that you just speak to our hearts father that you'd applied in our lives and father that we would take it and do what you would will for us to do we praise you and honor you in Jesus name. Amen. You know, everybody needs a friend everyone needs a friend and if this time and in Davis life, he needed a friend. You know, you need you need people we need people in our Lives who can stand with us through the hard times those who can be there to put an arm around us and lift us up when we're we're not able to lift ourselves up. I want you to meet a man tonight's who would be would be we would be proud to call our friend. And we see in this context we meet him at his name Jonathan. The son of Saul Now first number one is is a unique context cuz this is right after a David. Go to battle with Goliath and Victorious over Goliath and then it comes to Saul after the battles been done. He's cut off the head of Goliath Israelites have Victory and he comes to Saul who was very doubtful of David. But he really didn't care as long as David went out there and fought Goliath and he didn't have to. Didn't care as long as David when he fought Goliath and his son. Jonathan didn't have to write. But you see that there was something about Jonathan and what he saw in the life of David what he saw with your was just this scrawny little teenager that comment was willing to stand up to this Giants. But I'm not sure if Jonathan would be willing to do that himself, but I'm sure that's all would have stopped him if you wanted to because he would doubt his own son. Just like you did with David. But right after David Victorious over a Goliath we find this context and verse one and it came to pass when you had made the end of speaking out to saw that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. Makes you question. Why did Jonathan love them and all the damn? I didn't do anything for Jonathan. That's often or attitudes as well. Yeah, you must do something for me to show 4th love. Well that isn't the case was Jesus. He shows forth his love toward us even while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.

So as we look at Jonathan tonight, we see that he was a kind of man. Who who you would want as well to be your friend. He was a son of the king. He was a prince. He was heir to the throne of Israel. He was but he was more than just a prince. He was a warrior the first time we see Jonathan mention is in first Samuel chapter 13. He's leading Israel's armies to Victory. He was not only a leader of a man, but he was a true hero. Different wood. Look at Jonathan and lifted him up as a hero. In 1st Samuel 14, you see him and his armor Bearer that go. They go out to survey to spy out the enemy's camp. And if they climb to the cliff to see the campy armour-bearer becomes afraid. He sees the enemy. But you know Jonathan had this attitude.

An attitude if God is for us. What's going to stop us? If God Wills then it will come to pass. He already had a walk with the Lord before he even met David. In chapter 14 e go to survey the camp. The armor bearers is afraid and Jonathan and courage is ham to buy reminded him that God was with them and the God will deliver them through this battle now. It's one thing to go to war with your whole Army, but you're going to war with you and your armor Bearer. And you tell your armor better don't be afraid. God's going to deliver us. You know reality sinks end of it's just me and you right but Jonathan already had a faith in God he knew that God was on his side. He knew that he was a child of God. The Jews and Israelites were God's children and God was there to protect them. I was going to do work in their lives. To the end to the camp. Counts on auto Jonathan and begins to attack the enemy's Camp win or the Lord was with him because he he made the ground to begin to shake. And if the ground began to shake the Philistines float away.

God was in control.

Jonathan Faith was the God will deliver.

No wonder the Bible says that the people loved Jonathan. He was a true hero to the people if you want to see Jonathan's harder, you can see it. not in his own Bakery for 1 David defeats Goliath right away David comes up and we just read their context and chapter 18 where their souls were knit together and Jonathan love them. So now this is like a a best friend love. This is not the the so-called love that you see in today's society between two men or two women. So we got to get that clear. This was this was a true brotherly like a brotherly love and you look at him as his own brother. So much so that he was willing to give up his heir to the throne to David.

What is Jonathan's response? when David kills Goliath You know you think about Jonathan and he should have been out there to war. You know, cuz Goliath comes out for 40 days 40 nights in and threatening Israel. David hears that you know this whole time Jonathan's hearing these threatenings, but it's not like David was sitting there for 40 days and finally had enough soon as he heard it he had enough. And something happened that day when David took a stand took a stand for God. Where Jonathan should up as well David took a stand David follow-through. You saw the victory come from God. And his reaction was you know what? I'm not the hero, here's the new true hero. Here's the new deliver God's key. He loved David so

And David, he saw boldness of faith in God not even like his own know Jonathan news and you tell your all barbarian encourage him and you know what God's going to do at work if they've got a lot. I was just going to come to pass that's pretty bold, but he sees David He sees the faith that David has the Bible says that their souls were knit together. They were of the same Spirits. What kind of spirit of David have? Godly Spirits God and 12th David So we find here that to Jonathan isn't wealth by God. God is working through Jonathan. God is working through David. Drop the remainder of the book of 1st Samuel the love and the friendship that's shared by David and Jonathan is obvious. In addition to the examples of love and loyalty by the two friends are the spiritual types that are presented. What these two what David and Jonathan? Princess David is an Old Testament picture of Christ. And that's the count from his father's house to fight a great. Enemy a Giant's the Nemesis of God's people, you know and Goliath came out and threaten Israel. He was Define God. It was a battle between God and Satan Good and Evil. David comes out to fight this nemesis.

Just as Christ in the New Testament won the battles over sin and save them Death setting free all that would believe in him. Who believed in David that day?

nobody no sauces, you know may the Lord be with you, but you know what solid and I'll believe that David will get the victory. His brothers didn't believe in him. His father didn't believe in them.

Likewise Jonathan also the picture of Christ and that he loved him. He loved David. AutoZone, Sol That means that Jonathan would have given his life for David. But notice also that after Jonathan and David had entered into a covenant of a friendship. The Jonathan stripped himself of all that symbolizes royalty looking for Spore. And Jonathan stripped himself of the road that was upon him. You think this was just an ordinary robe know he was a prince of the king. This would be a royal robe.

Stripped off this robe and he gives it to David. And his garments even to his sword at you as Beau at you as girdle, he stripped everything off of him that made him presenting yourself as The Prince and gives it to David and other words. He he looks today was as you know what I am not worthy to have this position. Here you can have it now. It already anointed David to be God's key. I wasn't God's King yet. We know that from the rain through 1st Samuel and get to seconds. But you know what David was faithful. He looked at Solace is is the king at the time he look at it is God's anointed told Saul many of times but he held saw to that position of God's anointed.

We see that this Jonathan is a beautiful picture of what Christ has done for us willing to lay aside the expression of his attributes that he might die for our sins. Bill Carson have to come to this earth live a perfect life and die in The Crossing to meet you. You know what he done for us. Jonathan didn't need to give anything to David. What would David have to give to Jonathan that day? The sword of Goliath or his head. He didn't have anything. You're just a Shepherd boy. But he comes to a man in Jonathan gives him this these garments this the sword the bow. and the girdle Philippians 2:6 says who being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God but made himself of no reputation and took upon him the form of a servant. It was made in the likeness of men. I mean found in fashion as a man. He humbled himself and became obedient unto death. Even the death of the Cross. That's the Apostle Paul speaking about the Lord Jesus. He was obedient even unto death even the death of the Cross giving of himself for us.

I like to take a look at the love of Jonathan for his friend David. And pay to you. It's New Testament fulfillment of what Christ has done for us? I don't want to waste either what price is done for us? Just like the love of Jonathan we too have to show for that to other people. We can be a friend to others just like Jonathan was what David first thing that we noticed tonight. Is that Jonathan heated clothing? Get clothes him looking for sport and Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him. Deported on to David it says here here is this Royal Road? This isn't just any road. This is special. It's not like you can go to Walmart and there's a whole rack of them. This is a significant event that took place. He closed David with this room. Why did he do it while to show forth is Love Tour David? Yeah, the Bible says it was we just remember someone that their souls were knit together. You know what? Jonathan had some respect a high level of respect and he wanted to give him a gift so to speak. Not only was he felt feeling like he wasn't worthy to be a prince but he looked at the boldness of David the faithfulness to God and David Energy looks a day, but he can say you know, what? This is God's key. This is who truly should be the heir to God's Throne 2 to the The Throne of Israel. Jonathan saw something and David.

Christ also has closed us. Matthew chapter 6 verse 36 wherefore. If God so clothe the grass of the field. What's today is and tomorrow is cast into the oven shall he not much more clothe you oh, ye of little faith. Therefore take no thought saying what shall we eat or what shall we drink or wherewithal shall we be closed? Now we're talkin physical close. We're talking physical needs. You know what the Lord takes care of us so much so that we take it for granted oftentimes, right? Just go to your house and open up your closet in and try to decide what you're going to wear tomorrow. Sometimes it's a hard choice because there's so many options. All those options are so many blessings from the Lord. You may say well, I don't have that space. I have one pair of pants and one shirt will guess what? The Lord is still providing? But how often do we take that for granted? David wasn't taking it for granted. He was like, I really don't deserve this. I don't deserve this role. I don't deserve your robe. You know what? We don't really deserve God's blessings. But thank God He blesses us.

How many times has God taken us in our naked shame and closed this with his love?

How does it feel to come before the Lord of shames not fun at all? No, it's not a good feeling at all. But you know what? God loves us so much. He will cover it. He sent his son to die on the cross to cover our shame to cover our sin. Scott's entire that we would wear his name. And then we would be close with his righteousness and humility. You know what the Lord calls us with more than just physical apparel. He calls us with his righteousness not because work rates, but because his son is great.

It doesn't matter where you been. Turn my phone with me if you want to the Book of Luke. The Book of Luke

Luke chapter 8 and verse 27

we'll look at an example. of a man Who Society had cast out wanted nothing to do with? and prior in this context, you'll find Jesus head specifically sent to go to this place to see this man looking verse 27 of Luke 8 Luke 8 verse 27

How many 1/4 till and there met him out of the city of certain man, which had Devils long time and wore no clothes either about her than any house but in the tombs. So Jesus specifically goes to this place to see this certain man. He goes to see the sword man who had no clothes on. No clothes on he didn't have any house. He lived in the graveyard the tombs verse 28 and when he saw Jesus he cried out and fell down before him and was allowed boy. She said what have I to do with thee Jesus the son of God most high I beseech thee. For he had commanded the unclean Spirit to come out of the Moon brought them time to the condom and he was kept bound with chains and in Fetters and you break the bands and was driven out or driven of the devil Into the Wilderness and Jesus asked him saying what is thy name? And he said Legion because many Devils were entered into him. And they besought him that he would not come in them to go out into the deep. Are there were there a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain and they besought him that he would suffer that to enter into them and he suffered then. Then what the devil's out of the man and entered into the swine and the herd ran violently down the Steep Place into the lake and we're choked.

fed them When they fed them saw what was done, they fled and went and told it in the city and in the country, then they went out to see what was done and come to Jesus and found the man out of him. The Devils were deported sitting at the feet of Jesus clothed and in his right mind and they were all afraid. Of course, they're afraid. Why are they free because they had nothing to do with this man? They did not give him a chance of him love him and care for him. He was a crazy person. Was he crazy all on the Sonos the devil's he had a legion of Devils demons within within him Jesus knew that he went there specifically for this man. Can I tell you when Jesus comes in your heart he close you he makes you a new person and when other people see it, they too are afraid. They're not afraid of you, but they're afraid of The God Who does the changing? They were afraid because not only did they know who this man was his reputation and where he lived and now all of sudden he's sitting at the son of God's feet. Clothed in his right mind.

How can you say that? God does not do a work in someone's life. God called him Jesus clothing not only physically but spiritually. We need God's spiritual covering in our lives. Yeah, we can walk around thinks that we have it all together. But if we don't have the blood of Christ covering us and clothing us, you know, what there's a reality that we're going to face. That's a like a fire and you know what Jesus was said so we don't have to go there. But we have to accept them by faith. This is what the Lord wants to do with our past. You know, what allow our past to be our past. One of the worst things that you can find today in our nation is you can turn on the TV and find somebody going and digging up. Someone else's past 40 years ago. You know what? Some people can't even remember five months ago. Let alone 50 years.

When God Saves us he saves us from our sinful states. He gives us a whole new future and says, you know, I don't live in the past. I got about a new purpose and a new life for you.

the Lord Jesus by Jonathan kind of love No one else love this Legion. Jesus specifically came to him that makes us think are we going to someone on purpose you find selling and no one wants anything to do with? The Lord puts it on your heart. Hey, go talk to him go with courage then more. Me and someone else.

But he wants us to he wants to close us and is in his love he wants us to feel his love and the show that toward others. number one clothing number to we see in our text that Jonathan has strengthened Jesus it strengthened David turn with me to 4 Samuel 23 1st Samuel chapter 23 and verse 15

1st Samuel 23 verse 15 and Davis all that saw was come out to seek his life. Two to come kill him to seek his life. And David was in a Wilderness as if in a wood and Jonathan Saul's son a rose and went to David into the wood and strengthened his hand in God. We said unto him fear not for the hand of saw my father shall not find me and thou shalt be king over Israel now Shelby next down to the also saw my father knowing Verse 18 and I made to made a covenant before the Lord and David Abode in the wood and Jonathan went to his house now Jonathan knew it all the times were saw was out to kill David. But you know what Jonathan put his own life on the line to protect and to strengthen David. Even says in verse number 17 there. Your knowledge is that David is going to be king over his true even over himself. He's trying to encourage David head. Don't fear. My father saw. God has it under control you are going to be king and you know, what if something is going to take place. I'll let you know.

I never felt like you were running for your life.

I need to know what to do. That's what David was is running Saul seeking his life. I don't know where to hide or what to do.

And after running for so long you been you become weak and and weary and you need strength. We hit on this this morning with Elijah after the great victories. He was exhausted. He was weak. David running for his life as weak-kneed strengthen physically need strengthen spiritually. Do you know what that true friend comes along? Listen to hey, don't worry. Don't Fear the Lord. Has it under control. What a friend. That's a friend that you and I need.

Jesus Christ can give you the strength that you need Romans. 5:6 is for when we were yet without Strength In Due Time Christ died for the ungodly.

2nd Corinthians 12:9 and he said unto me my grace is sufficient for thee for my strength is made perfect in weakness most gladly. Therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities that the power of Christ May rest upon me, you know, what if you're weak and you need strength the strength comes from the Lord. He is a true friend of a friend indeed who will strengthen us. Philippians the book of Philippians says for I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. We can have a big ego so I can do everything you can do everything. But if Christ is the one strengthen and you there's no limits. There's no limits for David. Why is that because God was in control and he brought a friend along a true friend that loved him their souls were knit together.

Play Jonathan kind of love and he will give you strength. Psalm 138:3 says in the day when I cried now answer with me and strengthened me with the strength of my soul strike. Call out to God God. I need your strength. He answers us give me strength physically give me spiritual emotional strength when we are weak. If we turn to our cells to strengthen us. We will fail return to God allow him to strengthen us. Encourage us. Bring a friend along. Hey, it's okay. God has it under control. He strengthened am number three he gave all. He gave all back in or texting chapter 18 and verse 4.

Jonathan stripped himself of the road that was upon him and gave it to David. and his garments even to a sword into his bow and his girl wasn't enough to just give him his robe. Then he gets on his garments. I guess I'm a sword. Here's the thing. Not every person had a sword. You know when he goes a battle against Goliath who was standing there the house or so.

But all the rest of the army say that I have swords.

What time does Jonathan come today when I give him everything there's another thing he gives and I'll just a sore looking for Spore. And to his phone and she was bow. Now like the bow and arrow the bow and arrow is a significant thing in the life of Jonathan and David.

And also his girdle. He gave all Jonathan scripp himself of everything that he had and gave it to David. What a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ who who gave his All For You and I what did he leave behind or not? Give us he gave us his all. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. That's everything that God had he gave to us.

As I mentioned already Philippians 2:6 pooping in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God but made himself of no reputation and took upon him the form of a servant made in the likeness of man. I mean found in the fashion of man. He humbled himself and became obedient unto death. Even the death of the Cross where for God also have highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name that the name of Jesus every knee shall bow of things in heaven and things of Earth and things under the He gave everything for us not for himself. Price left The Pavilions of Heaven came down to the cameraman and then died as a thief and he did it for you. You did it for all of us he gave all for us. What kind of love is that? unconditional sacrificial love

Not only did he give us all but number for he saved them. He saved them. to 1st Samuel 20 4 Samuel 20

keep in mind his father. Saul did not have to look for David like Jonathan in it was more like a like a hatred and resentments. You resented him because of children of Israel look up to David Moore. So that's all. And from that time on Saul looked to kill David. 1st Samuel 21 verse 30 4 Samuel 20 verse 30 themselves anger was kindled against Jonathan. And he said on him now, son of the perverse rebellious woman do not I know that thou has chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion and not to the confusion of dying mother's nakedness. As long as the son of Jesse liveth upon the ground Val shall not be established northern kingdom wear for now. It's an infection in my tummy for he shall surely die. Jonathan answer saw his father and sit on him. Wherefore shall he be slain? What has he done? It's all cast of Jalen and him to Smite him where by Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay David. Up to this point, you know Jonathan tells David or Jonathan. Tell Saul that he's going to take a stand for David. Saul in his rage and and wanting to kill David even takes a job on and throws it at his own son.

Jonathan is just sticking up for not only the Lord but first friend Jonathan was doing the right thing, but you can see the hatred us all had for David first 34. So Jonathan a rose from the table and fierce anger did not know meet the second day of the month for he was grieved for David because his father had done him shame. And it came to pass in the morning that Jonathan went out into the field at the time appointed with David and a little lad with him and he said unto his lad run find out now the arrows which I shoot. National ad ran he shot an arrow be on him when the lad was come to the place of the arrow was Jonathan and Charlotte Jonathan cried after the lad I said, it's not the arrow be on the Jonathan cried after the LED makes speed haste stay not and Jonathan's lad gathered up the arrows and came to his master. I do not anyting only Jonathan and David knew that matter. And Jonathan gave his artillery onto his lad and set on him go carry them to the city. And as soon as I lad was gone David a rose out of the place toward the South and fell on his face to the ground about himself three times and the kiss one another and wept one with another until David exceeded and Jonathan said to David. Go in peace for as much as we have sworn both of us in the name of the Lord saying the Lord be between me and the in between my seat and I see forever and he arose and departing and Jonathan went into the city. Jonathan had saved David's life after to kill him Jonathan and David got together and and and Jonathan's going to go find out from Salt you really want to kill him. Is that really your means? And so the means to communicate today, but with his bow and arrow. I said I will go talk to Saul it when I come back if I shoot these arrows and it goes One Direction. Does this then you know that he's not going to kill you safe. But if it's the other way, he's just wanting your life. Can you use a bow and arrow to save David? Not to kill Saul but to show him what stalls intentions were. Jonathan left the table of his raging father to tell David. What was he telling him David flee? You need to get out of town you need to flee as far as I can from Seoul. If Jonathan had not warned David butts all tried to kill him. David would have been found and executed Saul's purpose was to destroy David. But who saving Jonathan? What's a Direction with the Arrows by warning David of the penny danger? Jonathan and saved his life. you know I think about Preachers think about missionaries in church Planters. Why do they preach the gospel? Why do they come in and present God's word? To save us to show us what God has for us to save us from the Wrath to come.

Before coming to church here that I want the first time. I've heard of Heaven and Hell I couldn't tell you before that how you're going to get to the one I just figured if you're bad enough, you're going to go to hell. I don't think I was good enough to go to heaven. But you know what preachers and teachers are used to use God's word to show us to warn us to flee from the Wrath to come.

Not only did he say them now. I just Jesus Save You and I lastly we see that's he was remembered by him. Jonathan was remembered by David Turner 2nd Samuel. chapter one 2nd Samuel chapter 1

2nd Samuel starts at this point Jonathan and Saul have been killed. dad David doesn't know that they've been killed. but this one messenger this one guy that comes to David and wants to Amoco lights besides that comes to David and and says that he was the one who slew Saul.

David says, you know, what's paraphrasing don't you know that he is God and how dare you touch God's anointed and David has one of his servants take out this guy. but you know after all the the pain in the agony in the threatening send in the persecution of Soul Tour David David had the right hearts look with me first number for Samuel 1 verse 17 Where's 117 citizen David lamented with this lamentation over soul and over Jonathan his son now it makes sense that he would lament over Jonathan rights Jonathan. But why would he lament over? So why does he even care about saw this guy wants to kill him? And now that he's dead. You know, what's you're now going to be the King, right? What a great day. Your adversary is wiped out but that wasn't Davis hearts. Looking for safety and it says also. He bade them teach the children of Judah. the use of the

Teach your children of Judah the use of the bow behold. It is written in the book of jasher. What does that have to do with anything? Why would he David?

directive to teach the children of Judah to use the bow. What was the significance of the bow the bow used by Jonathan save this life. The picture of the bow was Jonathan's love for David. What was the picture of the spear? Call Juanita kill David over and over in the javelin, right? We see the bow significant significance in a life of David and Jonathan and David says teach the children of Judah to use the bow as a memorial to Jonathan. Bus 19 the beauty of Israel is slain upon my high places. How are the mighty Fallen? Tell it not in gath publish it not in the streets of ascalon. Let's the daughters of the Philistines Rejoice less the daughters of the uncircumcised Triumph. Amounts of gilboa let there be no do either let there be rain upon you nor fills our offerings. For their The Shield of the Mighty Is by The Castaway the show of Saul as though you're not even been Anointed with oil. From the blood of the slain from the fat of the muddy the bow of Jonathan turn out back and the sword of Saul return out empty Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in our lives and in their death. They were not divided. They were swifter than eagles. They were stronger than Lions the daughters of Israel weep oversaw who called you is Scarlett's with other Delights who put on ornaments of gold upon your apparel. Call are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle old Jonathan that was slain in the high places. I am distressed for the my brother Jonathan. Very pleasant has to have been done to me. By law to me was wonderful passing the love of women. How are the mighty fallen and the weapons of war perished? He goes on to remember Jonathan, but not only Jonathan soul. You know you look it's David hearts in his life here was a man that probably was brought more trouble on his life than even Goliath. Saul wanted to kill him. Yes all was picked by God now wasn't God's King was Samuel was directed by God to Saul Hey find a first Contact for David Meats. All you know. David was used to play the harp to soothe the soul of Saul. Later on something change installs Hearts. He wanted to destroy David. He wanted to destroy something. That was God's purpose fellow here was David a man after God's Own Heart and Soul wanted to destroy its. But David even after Souls dead. the week's over How can a man weep over his enemy cuz of the love that God puts in us the love that God gives us through Christ and then you look at Jonathan. Obviously, he was weeping over Jonathan. That was his his brother in the face.

It says I love on to me was wonderful. Over and over again. Jonathan was saving David he was helping him. He looked to him as a friend that's closer than a brother.

David kept the remembrance of Jonathan to live all to the teaching of all the to use the bone. What is telling Judas I want you to choose the bow. Don't use the sword choose a bow. By choosing a bow, you're choosing to love one another by choosing a sort of your you're showing your anger and hatred towards somebody if someone does you wrong. What are you to do?

That's not easy. You say I should just forgive them and love them. Well, that's what the Lord wants us to do. Which you were to choose the bow think about God. Book of Genesis chapter 9 chapter 8 he tells Noah Noah. I want you to build an ark.

and Noah That's his whole life pretty much building. That's our to save his family and himself and all these animals and preaching everyday to these people to repent of their sins for the wrath of God is coming. My God says that every painted God that he had made man. There must have been so much wickedness going on. I mean God's looking at this and what have I created?

And God chooses to destroy its what the flood.

Chose the bow as a sign of his Mercy. Genesis 9-13 After the the flood waters have receded you tell snowing and verse 13. I do not set my bow in the cloud and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and your sister come to pass when I bring a cloud over the Earth that the bow. She'll be seen in the club. It's a totally different bow than a bow and arrow. Writes the significance is the same. What are you go outside and you see a rainbow? It is a picture. It is a promise that God made the he will never destroy the Earth with a flood again. Is that not a picture of God's love and mercy? When David was he a bow and arrow every time you see when he was see the love and the mercy of Jonathan.

What are we to do?

Choose Love choose the bow

Hatred is building up Lord strengthen me remove this from me. Help me to be a lovable person.

What you need to choose the boat choose to have a love of Jonathan towards others and always remember the the love the Lord has taught us. Like I said, it's not easy to just love everybody. I'm not I'm not saying here that it is easy. But what I am saying is we must allow the Lord to do the work in our lives. And the first place that that starts as loving ourselves not in Pride, but loving ourselves like Christ loved us. How can we love someone else if we don't even love ourselves?

God loves us so much that he sent his son to die for us. If we loved others as much as God loved them. We would show them. Let me tell you about Jesus. Let me tell you about my savior my Lord. When we do that, you know what we're doing. It's worth portraying God's love to them. This morning, we had a visitor and he brought his son. I went and introduced myself and I'm looking at this guy. I'm like, I swear. I know you from somewhere.

But nevertheless I'm glad you're here at anything. We can do to be a blessing.

If we don't show forth God's love to other people. Why would they want God? They won't want God. I'm thankful for our testimony in this church and other churches around here that show for Christ's love to others. What won the chances and the circumstances present themselves to you? Wicked act like two people Jonathan or so. Am I going to show forth my hatred like saw on my love like Jonathan? You know what? They both died the same time.

So wasn't so much their circumstances, I threw out that Parts. Already had a pretty decent plan for then. But can I tell you what Jonathan will be remembered for his love so will be remembered for whole list of other things and one of those things is turning his back on God. Never once you find Jonathan turn his back on God. Showing for that love over and over only David may not be our testimony and witness. Let's bow our heads this evening. Father we thank you tonight. If we look at your word what thankful for the love that you show for to us through Jesus. We're thankful for this example tonight if Jonathan and just seeing the love that we too could show for to her. Two others are friends and be a friend just like Jonathan was to David. Father were thankful that Jesus Jesus died on the cross for our sins, but we can have them as a friend that's closer than any brother. Father I pray that you would help us strengthen us we go throughout our separate ways and throughout the week in the months and then that the year remaining that we would show forth your love to others. Not brought on pride and ego but for your glory in your honor. father we need this strength that only you can give Father I pray also that you would continue to just put your hand upon us and encourages and this path that you have what thankful for your love and mercy tortoise your grace that is sufficient for us. We pray now that you just dismiss a sin that Grace continue to protect us be with those that can be with us this evening that you continue to minister to their hearts and their needs we thinking we love you in Jesus name. Amen.
