Notice the last verse.
Despite the Pharisees plans to and plots against Jesus, it wasn’t working.
They were accomplishing nothing!
I want to say to you today...
Despite what the devil is seeking to do against you, despite all his plans against you, he can accomplish nothing!
Nothing can stop what God wants to do through and for you.
God’s purpose for your life will be accomplished!
The devil may try to hinder you, but he cannot stop you!
In this message, I want to share 3 reasons why nothing can stop God’s purpose for you from coming to pass...
1. God can turn anything around for your good
Consider Joseph.
His own brothers sold him into slavery.
He was false accused and thrown into prison.
But God raised him up to become the second in charge of Egypt and overseer of the distribution of food in the midst of the famine.
He later said to his brothers...
God is able to turn any situation around to accomplish His purpose for us...
2. God has vindicated you
After returning from exile, the Jews were facing opposition from the Samaritans to rebuilding the temple.
It was a difficult and discouraging time.
The high priest at that time was called Joshua.
Interestingly, there was something going on spiritually behind the scenes that paralleled the opposition that was happening in the natural:
One of the weapons the devil uses to oppose you is guilt and condemnation so that we don’t think we are worthy to fulfil God’s purpose for us.
But such weapons will not prosper against us.
God has vindicated us!
Just as the flithy garment was taken from Joshua and replaced with rich robes, so God has taken away our sin, and clothed us with His righteousness...
Now onto our final reason why nothing can stop God’s purpose for us...
3. God doesn't start something until He has already finished it
In eternity, God foreknew and predestined us.
That is, He thought of us us in the context of personal, saving relationship (foreknew) and planned that we would be just like Jesus (predestined us).
In the recent past, He called and justified us.
That is, He drew us to Himself and declared us righteous.
In the future, He shall glorify us.
That is, He will give us a new body just like Jesus’ glorious body.
But noticed that Paul uses the word “glorified” in the past tense.
This is known as the “prophetic perfect” in which a future event is spoken of as though it were already done, because it is certain that God will do it.
We can therefore be confident that God will complete what He has started in us!
Because God does not start until He finishes, it means that He foresees everything that happens between the start and finish.
This includes our shortcomings, our failures, and our mistakes.
Yes, and even our sins also.
Yet, despite God foreseeing all that, He still decided to chose and call you.
This means we all should walk with a confidence that God still has a purpose for our lives and that He will fulfil it!
Summary
The devil’s plots against will accomplish nothing because:
God can turn anything around for your good
God has vindicated you
God doesn't start something until He has already finished it
