Introduction

1 John 5:12 NKJV
12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
1 John 5:12
Read
The pregnancy and birth of Uriah
Read 1 John 5:1-12
Emphasise that victory came through the assurance that God will look after us in our parenting.

- First parents fail.

He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
Verse 3 - Refer to Chapter 2: 16, 17 - The one commandment was that they were not to eat of that one tree, or they will “certainly die”! Adam and Even understood the commandment but they did not understand the consequences.
None of us really do. Do we really count the costs of our commandment breaking habits? When a married person decides to have a relationship outside of their marriage vows, do they measure how much they’ve invested in their spouse, how much the spouse has invested in them before engaging in a fleeting relationship? It started with flirting, and ended up with an unsolicited affair. The consequences not considered or understood.
Eternal death was as a foreign understanding to Adam and Eve as it is to us. We feel the repercussions of it, but we don’t truly know it or understand it. Only one human being knows and understands this, and He did it so we may not have to.
The Three Points of Temptation
The Appetite - the physical nature and appearance of the food
Doubt in God’s word - “You will not surely die.”
Power to be like God - Power, Position and Prestige
The point:
Satan uses the same tools today as he did in the very beginning.
How often do you find yourself tempted with these things?

Christ Intervenes

He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
Thus begins the pattern that we often see in the BIble. When humans make mistakes, God turns up to fix things.
In the following verses we immediately witness the results of disobeying God. Man and Woman blame each other and then the serpent, and then God. Unable to take responsibility and deny deny deny.
When we blame others, we deny responsibility of accepting who and what we are, and are ultimately blaming God.
Genesis 3:15
Genesis 3:15 ESV
15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”
“No longer free to stir up rebellion in heaven, Satan's enmity against God found a new field in plotting the ruin of the human race. In the happiness and peace of the holy pair in Eden he beheld a vision of the bliss that to him was forever lost. Moved by envy, he determined to incite them to disobedience, and bring upon them the guilt and penalty of sin. He would change their love to distrust and their songs of praise to reproaches against their Maker. Thus he would not only plunge these innocent beings into the same misery which he was himself enduring, but would cast dishonor upon God, and cause grief in heaven.” Patriarchs and Prophets p52
But , he enmity between Human and Satan is a gift from God!
The point I’m trying to make here is that
When Humans suffer the consequences of disobedience, God interjects and offers us a solution through obedience!
Humans suffer the consequences of disobedience, God interjects and offers us a way out by obedience!
What would you do for a friend who is suffering because of a mistake that he/she made?

- Jesus the Champ

He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
Introduce by Reading
Before Jesus enters into the wilderness. He is affirmed that He is indeed the son of God.

Three points to consider:
Jesus was tempted with physical food
Jesus was tempted to doubt the word of God
Jesus was tempted with Power, Position and Prestige
Matthew 3:17
Jesus conquered sin before dying on the Cross. Before a leader leads, they first show that they are invested in their people.
Christ demonstrated that we don’t have to fall victim to Satan’s deceptions.
Satan continues to use the same tools, Christ has not only exposed all the tools, Christ has proven that they can be conquered!
We try too hard to be like Christ. Try harder to be “IN’ Christ. It’s so much easier to act like Him than being in His presence.
When was the last time you spent quality time with Christ?
Revelation 1:18 NKJV
18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.
Hebrews 4:15–16 ESV
15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

The Bottom Line

He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
In every facet of life where we fall short. Christ my King has conquered and overcome.
“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased,” embraces humanity. God spoke to Jesus as our representative. With all our sins and weaknesses, we are not cast aside as worthless. “He hath made us accepted in the Beloved.” . Desire of Ages p113
Will you accept Christ as your King this morning?
Suggested Discussion Questions at Lunch
What does Christ conquering sin mean to you?
If an unhurched friend asked you, why did God have to put a tree to test Adam and Eve in the first place, what would you tell them?
Why do you think we try to deal with problems on our own instead of sharing with our family/friends/church community and/or calling on the power and faith of Jesus?
How can the Marage SDA church family demonstrate our belief in Christ as our conquering King?
Who is someone that you can share with this week, that needs to hear or be shown a message of victorious living?
Spend some time in prayer.
