Ezekiel 36:22–27 NKJV
22 “Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “I do not do this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for My holy name’s sake, which you have profaned among the nations wherever you went. 23 And I will sanctify My great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst; and the nations shall know that I am the Lord,” says the Lord God, “when I am hallowed in you before their eyes. 24 For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land. 25 Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

When the Spirit Moves: God is Validated

I. He Promised to Remove the Stench

This world has a problem called sin. Sin occurs when men, women, boys, and girls depart or turn away from God’s work, ways, and will. A person’s sin whether intentional or unintentional sets off a chain reaction of consequences.
When a person violates the will of God, their violation brings separation from God
Isaiah 59:2 KJV 1900
2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, And your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
When a person sins it brings death
Romans 6:23 KJV 1900
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
When a person sins it brings abandonment
Romans 1:24 KJV 1900
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
With these dire consequences and man’s inability to get himself out of them, the Lord had to rescue him from himself.
Through the prophet Ezekiel, the Lord made this promise
Ezekiel 36:23–25 KJV 1900
23 And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes. 24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. 25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
“I will sanctify My great name . . . I will take you from among the nations . . . Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you” (v. 23-25).
The Bible describes men and women as being dirty or filthy because of sin. So, the Lord God promised to remove them and clean men and women with water.
King David expressed this process when he stated, “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow”
Psalm 51:7 KJV 1900
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
David understood that he was not able to cleanse himself. Only the Creator can remove the stench of sin from wicked men and women.
Only the Lord can
He washed the wickedness of man’s ways
He disinfected the dirt of man’s
He cleansed the corruption of man’s conscience
He sterilized the stench of man’s soul
He sanitized the sin of man’s speech
He rinsed the rottenness of man’s rationale
He purified a black wicked heart and wash it and make it whiter than snow.

II. He Promised to Replace the Soul

It is not enough for the Lord to forgive or cleanse the sinner from their transgressions, but the Lord has also promised to do something else. He desired for them to live differently because the Israelites had “profaned His name” due to their inability to keep His statues and ordinances.
Deuteronomy 5:29 KJV 1900
29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!
The Bible stated, “O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever”
It is God’s will for humanity to fear or reverence Him above all others, and follow or obey His commandments.
Ezekiel 36:26 KJV 1900
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
Therefore, He said, “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.”
This replacing of the heart and spirit, which I am referring to as the soul, of the sinner is imperative because it is in the heart where the evil thoughts, desires, and mindset originate.
Seeing that humanity is not capable of real heart change, the Lord had to send His Son to make him brand new
2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV 1900
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
New life New walk
New talk New outlook
New attitude New motivation
New name New song
New covenant New heart
New spirit New family

III.He Promised to Return His Spirit

God promised that He would remove the stench and replace the soul. Yet the Lord is not finish with the repentant man or woman. He promised to put His Spirit in them.
Ezekiel 36:27 KJV 1900
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
The text says, “And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them” (v. 27).
Fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters have been the captain of the souls, but their instructions have led to death and destruction.
Their life wrecked by their Walk
Their life marred by their Manners
Their life misconstrued by their Motions
Their life tainted by their Tactics
Their lives are gutted by their Gestures
Their lives are aggravated by their Actions
Their lives are spoiled by their Speech
Their lives are corrupted by their Conduct
Now the Lord God has promised to give them a new guide. He will take up residence in them and will guide them into all truth. According to the Apostle Paul, now the saint is able to walk in a new and holy way.
Galatians 5:16 KJV 1900
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
He stated, “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh” (Gal. 5:16).
The Christian is not able to have the “can’t help its” when it come to any sin in their life. The Lord has taken away the stench of sin, given a heart to know, love, and obey Him, and has given a personal trainer, called the Holy Spirit.
Let Him turned YOUR

heartaches into hallelujahs.
problems into praises…
