· 701 viewsLife in a fallen world always includes suffering and joy. God’s favor does not exclude suffering, but it promises hope. David describes in Psalm 30 that he was faced with possible death (sheol). (v. 3) It likely was related to his own sin. (v. 5) But God always ultimately turns his disfavor (anger) into favor. Our suffering into joy. (v. 5, 11-12) This means that God is always a constant merciful help in our lives.

God always brings the Pendulum back to favor and joy. (v. 5-7, 11-12)

God at times displays is wrath (NT equivalent for believers [Chastening]), but God’s favor always returns to those who fear the Lord.

Weeping may tarry for the night,
but joy comes with the morning.
Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me!

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
you have loosed my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness,
that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!

Remember that sin does effect my relationship with God. (v. 5)
Remember that God’s favor is found even in the midst of Wrath/Chastisement. (v. 5)
The Loss of God is a dismaying reality (v. 7)
God’s mercy and help is always available. (v. 10)
God always will turn my despair into hope and joy. (v. 11-12)
