One simple Idea: The Holy Spirit helps us pray

Romans 8:26 CSB
In the same way the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with unspoken groanings.
This can be either we are not mature, and we don’t know how pray, what to pray for.
Or this can be that we don’t the words because we are emotionally overwhelmed.
Or sometimes, a situation is very bad and very complicated, and we don’t know how or what God’s will is.
Spend 5 minutes talking with one other person about a situation now or in the past that you didn’t/don’t know how to pray for.
Why can the Spirit do this?
Psalm 139:1–6 CSB
Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I stand up; you understand my thoughts from far away. You observe my travels and my rest; you are aware of all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue, you know all about it, Lord. You have encircled me; you have placed your hand on me. This wondrous knowledge is beyond me. It is lofty; I am unable to reach it.

Romans 8:27 CSB
And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because he intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

I’m thankful that I have the HS help in prayer!
look closer at verses 26-28
26: sometimes we pray for the wrong thing!
As an example we can look to Joshua. He was leading the children of Israel against their enemies and they were defeated at Ai. So, he started praying (). But he wasn’t praying about the right thing; the Lord appeared and told him to get up and deal with a problem in the camp (7:10-11,13). Another example is Paul who prayed three times for God to take away a physical ailment he had and God answered by teaching him to live with the pain and suffering (,).

to live with the pain and suffering (,).
We have many examples, including Paul, of how God uses trails and suffering to grow us to greater maturity. What is truly good are the things that will last for eternity.
Romans 8:18 CSB
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us.
I don’t let Addy have candy whenever she wants it. Sometimes I even allow her to experience pain so that she can learn what is right and wrong. God also teaches us as His child, since we often want things that are not the best for us.
What should we do? Pray!
There is one thing that scripture does not promise. It does not say that the HS will pray for you when don’t want to, don’t have time, or just forget.
God promise is the the HS will HELP you, not do all the praying for you. Ephesians has this command:
Ephesians 6:18 CSB
Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.
The important thing for us is to bring everything to God in prayer. there is nothing too small or too big for God.
My wife even prays when we are playing board games together that she would win. And the frustrating things that she beats me most of the time! But I think that’s mostly for my humility.
God loves you and wants to talk about everything. there is nothing too small or too big.
I challenge you this week to bring everything to God in prayer with the confidence that the HS is interceding God’s will for you as you pray.
