GOD OUR CREATOR
PREPARED
BY
MICHAEL WASHINGTON

Text Gen: 1: “In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth”

Illustration:

* The atheist say’s there is know God
* The agnostic claims we can’t know God
* The polytheist worship many gods
* The pantheist says “all nature is God
* The materialist claims that matter is eternal and not created
* The fatalist teaches there is no divine plan behind creation and history

Yet in this verse we find to our comfort, the first article of our Creed, /that God the Father Almighty is the Maker of heaven and earth/

Yet as Christian we see God’s personality in this chapter:

God – speaks, sees names and blesses

Gods word was the potent force behind creation and it laid the foundation for authority of his future words.
God speaks and it happens

Whether he speaks judgment or salvation

Then we have those of science that believe  and claim that matter just came into  being  and that all complex life forms, “Gradually evolved” from lower forms.
As for Christians we cannot accept any of these – our belief is that the word of God is what it is and that it is true.
God has given us an account of His creative abilities in Gen. 1:1    But he has also led us to both the old and new testament that affirms Him as our Creator.
The bible first tells us that a supernatural being brought the universe into existence:

It gives us the:

                                                When- “in the beginning
                                                Who? “….
GOD…”
What? “….. Created the heavens and the earth.”
The bible does not give us the s a lot of details about God creative activity

As believers we accept God’s as our creator by “FAITH”

Hebrew 11:3 states “By *faith* we understand that the world was framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”
Isaiah 45:18 “ For thus say’s the Lord, who created the heavens) he is God), who formed the earth and made it(he established it; he did not create it a chaos, he formed it to be inhabited!):
“I am the Lord and there is no other.
In the beginning- a period of remote and unknown antiquity, hid in the depths of eternal ages;

God- the name of the Supreme Being, signifying in Hebrew “Strong,” Mighty.”
GOD – ELOHIM

GOD WHO IS PERFECT IN POWER
                                                PERFECT IN WISDOM
                                                PERFECT IN GOODNESS
GOD WHO IS CREATOR AND RULER
            Make a note concerning this

Created- -- formed from nothing- formed from no pre-existing materials

God in Gen: 1:1 exercises His Creative power and brings the universe into being.
The message Bible- states “First This: God created the Heavens and Earth- all you see, all you don’t see..
He focuses on planet Earth, carefully shapes it to support life, and living Creatures

God demonstrated his power by creating
·         marvelous and unexpected thing
·         men and women
·         mountains

The heaven and the earth- the universe

Nothing throughout the wide extent of nature existed from eternity
            Nothing originated by chance
Nothing originated from the skill of any inferior agent

BUT THE WHOLE UNIVERSE WAS PRODUCED BY THE CREATIVE POWER OF GOD.
ACTS: 17: 24 “God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands.
The implication of God As our Creator means that everything that exists is under God’s CONTROL.
The creation must be in subjection to the CREATOR

·         Is a Spirit – In john 4: 24 “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.
