“God has a plan for your life, do you trust Him?”

Me ------------------------

The most complicated easy tree job I ever did

We -----------------------

Has there ever been something in your life that you felt God calling you to but but you felt unprepared?
Where God was asking you to step into something that you had never before done?
God has a calling for everyone of you
As we continue our walk through the life of Joseph we will see how Joseph was able to step into
We have talked about when Joseph recieved his calling
How God used the trials of Joseph to grow him in standing for what was right, in leadership, and in learning his spiritual gift
But now what we are talking about is the one and only reason Joseph was able to step into his calling
Robes:
We have talked about when Joseph recieved his calling
How God used the trials of Joseph to grow him in standing for what was right, in leadership, and in learning his spiritual gift
But now what we are talking about Joseph stepping into his calling and the one and only reason he was ready for it

God----------------------

Genesis 41:1 ESV
After two whole years, Pharaoh dreamed that he was standing by the Nile,
We have talked about when Joseph recieved his calling
How God used the trials of Joseph to grow him in standing for what was right, in leadership, and in learning his spiritual gift
By this point Joseph has spent 13 years in slavery and now prison
But now what we are talking about is the one and only reason Joseph was able to step into his calling
So Pharaoh has now had two dreams, and we will look at the dreams a little later
But he is in great distress and calls all the wisemen
Genesis 41:8 ESV
So in the morning his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt and all its wise men. Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was none who could interpret them to Pharaoh.
It would actually be somewhat uncommon for a Pharaoh to call for interpreters because a pharaoh was regarded as deity and would interpret their own dreams
however no one was found among the wisemen
Genesis 41:9–13 ESV
Then the chief cupbearer said to Pharaoh, “I remember my offenses today. When Pharaoh was angry with his servants and put me and the chief baker in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, we dreamed on the same night, he and I, each having a dream with its own interpretation. A young Hebrew was there with us, a servant of the captain of the guard. When we told him, he interpreted our dreams to us, giving an interpretation to each man according to his dream. And as he interpreted to us, so it came about. I was restored to my office, and the baker was hanged.”
For the Pharaoh to call the wisemen for an interpretation was one thing but to call a Hebrew especially one from prison was culturally unacceptable
Patriarchs and Prophets Chapter 20—Joseph in Egypt

It was humiliating to Pharaoh to turn away from the magicians and wise men of his kingdom to consult an alien and a slave, but he was ready to accept the lowliest service if his troubled mind might find relief. Joseph was immediately sent for;

It was humiliating to Pharaoh to turn away from the magicians and wise men of his kingdom to consult an alien and a slave, but he was ready to accept the lowliest service if his troubled mind might find relief. Joseph was immediately sent for; he put off his prison attire, and shaved himself, for his hair had grown long during the period of his disgrace and confinement. He was then conducted to the presence of the king.

“Fake News”
#1 Joseph never shows up
#2 Joseph takes all the credit
#3 Joseph denies the job
Joseph trusted God
2 Corinthians 3:5 ESV
Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God,
The real story:
Genesis 41:14–16 ESV
Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they quickly brought him out of the pit. And when he had shaved himself and changed his clothes, he came in before Pharaoh. And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.” Joseph answered Pharaoh, “It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer.”
Pharaoh’s dreams
7 healthy cows & 7 unhealthy cows
7 healthy ears of grain & 7 Unhealthy
Joseph interprets
Genesis 41:25–32 ESV
Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dreams of Pharaoh are one; God has revealed to Pharaoh what he is about to do. The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good ears are seven years; the dreams are one. The seven lean and ugly cows that came up after them are seven years, and the seven empty ears blighted by the east wind are also seven years of famine. It is as I told Pharaoh; God has shown to Pharaoh what he is about to do. There will come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt, but after them there will arise seven years of famine, and all the plenty will be forgotten in the land of Egypt. The famine will consume the land, and the plenty will be unknown in the land by reason of the famine that will follow, for it will be very severe. And the doubling of Pharaoh’s dream means that the thing is fixed by God, and God will shortly bring it about.
Genesis 41:
Genesis 41:37–41 ESV
This proposal pleased Pharaoh and all his servants. And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find a man like this, in whom is the Spirit of God?” Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has shown you all this, there is none so discerning and wise as you are. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall order themselves as you command. Only as regards the throne will I be greater than you.” And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.”
Genesis 41:37–45 NKJV
So the advice was good in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of all his servants. And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?” Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you.” And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.” Then Pharaoh took his signet ring off his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand; and he clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck. And he had him ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried out before him, “Bow the knee!” So he set him over all the land of Egypt. Pharaoh also said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, and without your consent no man may lift his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.” And Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Zaphnath-Paaneah. And he gave him as a wife Asenath, the daughter of Poti-Pherah priest of On. So Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.

Calling is not salvational
Ephesians 2:8 NKJV
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
Ephensians 2:8
1 Corinthians 3:10–15 NKJV
According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

Ephesians 4:8 NKJV
Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men.”
