God’s Love Seals Our Salvation
God has always been about promises.
Whether it was promises to Adam & Eve concerning the coming Savior (), Abraham concerning a son (), Jeremiah concerning a new covenant (), or the Jews concerning salvation in Jesus () God has always made promises.
The point is our God is perfect and not afraid to say “this will happen” you can count on Me and My Word.
When it comes to salvation this is no different.
Sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.
When we obey the gospel our salvation is sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.
This means we are given the Holy Spirit when we come out a new creation from that watery grave.
Romans 8:9
Summery
If one does not have the Holy Spirit in their lives they are not God’s adopted child, simple as that, because He is the seal of that salvation.
If one does not have the Holy Spirit in their lives they are not God’s adopted child, simple as that, because He is the seal of that salvation.
Brethren, “God’s Love Seals Our Salvation with the Holy Spirit.
God’s Love Protects Our Salvation
When sealed we were redeemed.
This means we have God, once again, on our side.
Eph 4:
When sealed we are protected.
This means we find refuge in our God.
This means we will “never fall” when walking with God.
2 Pt 1:
Now, this refuge and lack of falling is predicated on our walk with God in righteousness.
So how can God say we will “never fall” if it’s clear we “can fall?”
1 John 1:7
Summery
The point is this, when we obey the gospel and are sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, God puts a “hedge of protection” around our eternity.
This doesn’t mean we won’t be tempted or tried, we will, it simply means “God’s Love Protects Our Salvation.”
He promises never to leave us with no exit to temptation (
God’s Love As An Inheritance In Salvation
Obeying the gospel makes us God’s children.
When we have our sins washed away (), we are added to the church of Christ (), and we are sealed with the Holy Spirit we are adopted into the family of God.
We might inherit money, property, or any number of things left to us from those whom we love.
Being God’s children makes us heirs of God.
In the Bible the word inheritance isn’t determined by one dying.
The spiritual real is the same as the physical in this sense, as God’s children we become His heirs.
Abraham clearly inherited everything before his father’s passing when he was told to leave
Heb
Being heirs of God means an inheritance.
Like the physical real inheritance is based on death so too is our spiritual inheritance.
However, unlike the physical realm in the spiritual real death has been conquered, therefore death is “no more” for the righteous ().
Now many of you, like me, probably think the inheritance is heaven, however it is not heaven but that which is in heaven.
We inherit the “kingdom of God.”
We inherit this kingdom when we become God’s children on earth.
Eph 1:11-
We also inherit this kingdom in its full glory in heaven.
Notice Peter declares the inheritance is “kept in heaven” not heaven itself.
So what is our inheritance if it isn’t heaven?
It is the “kingdom of God” in its imperishable, undefiled and unfading state.
Now to be sure we have, through promise, already obtained our inheritance because it is guaranteed to us until we acquire it.
Summery
So what does all this mean…it means “God’s Love As An Inheritance In Salvation” is promised and secure.
As sure as if we already obtained it we have an inheritance kept in heaven for us when we are delivered by Christ to the Father.
Conclusion
God’s love for man in salvation is far more amazing that our finite minds can fully comprehend and yet God has given us enough in His Word to blow our minds, humble our spirits, and make us proudly proclaim His love for us boldly and proudly.
Let it be said we not only know God’s love for us but let those around us know and see that love in our lives.
