Luke 11: 1-13 “Learning To Pray” Small Group Study Questions *Start your small group time off with prayer and then read the passage of Scripture in its entirety before getting into the questions. 1. When you think of prayer what immediately comes to mind for you? 2. What is it about the prayer (verses 2-4) that Jesus teaches his disciples in this passage that most speaks to you? 3. What do you think Jesus is trying to teach us about prayer in the story he gives in verses 5-8? What is the difference between the friend who is awoken at midnight for bread and God? 4. Why does Jesus tell us to keep on “asking…seeking, knocking” when it comes to prayer in verses 9-10? What do you think Jesus means by these verses? 5. What are the things in your life that keep you from praying? Read Hebrews 10:19-22. 6. How do you deal with unanswered prayer? What makes God still good and loving, even when he doesn’t answer our prayers as we hoped? Read verse 13. 7. Why is prayer so important for us who seek to walk with Christ? What is one thing you can do this week that will help lead you into prayer? Closing Prayer: Pray that the things that hold you back from prayer would be removed, whether they be shame, fear, worry or disappointment. Pray that God would empower you by his Spirit to pray more so that you can experience more of God’s presence in your life. Ask God to make you bold and fearless in your prayers, as you trust in him. Pray for God to do great things at Redeemer and in our community, for his glory.
