Ezekiel 36:26 NIV
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
There is a transformation that takes place!
Ezekiel was looking ahead to the day Christ would purchase redemption.
Since, Pau write and calls it the “new creation.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
[PAYOFF] - This new heart, or new creation transforms us,
And transforms our world view and our behavior
Romans 5:5 NIV
And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Heart Transplant

Ezekiel 11:19 NIV
I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.
We have recieved a new heart/spirit
Regenerated in Christ
We’re not the same....
We don’t live the same...
We don’t live FOR the same...
Now, in the trials we face, there is hope before us!
Romans 5:5 NIV
And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
It’s real! It’s tangible. And, it’s there!
Romans 8:38–39 NIV
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Let’s observe truths about this love...

It’s His love in us.

: “because God’s love has been...”

We love because he first loved us.
1 John 1
Our love “back” to Him isn’t a reciprocation...
: “because God’s love has been...”
Our love is His love. Our ability to love is His love in us!
We have a new heart. We have been transformed.
[PAYOFF] - Are you struggling to love someone?
Depend on His love!
[TRANSITION] - It’s possible to love the unlovable (including yourself), because....

His love overtakes us.

Romans 5:5 KJV 1900
And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
His love covers all (1 Peter 4:8). It overflows!
Ephesians 3:14–19 NIV
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
“Beyond knowledge”, “Fullness of God.”
How is this possible?...

His love comes by His Spirit.

: “through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”
Titus 3:5–7 NIV
he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
It’s through His Spirit that we recieved this new heart/spirit.
It’s through His Spirit that we are able to Love as He loves.

Romans 8:9–11 ESV
You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

It’s through His Holy Spirit we experience new life = His new love.
