Introduction
Two Groups
Jesus, the new order: Represents trouble
Pharisees: the current order, representing the status quo, fighting to maintain their current status and religious system
Jesus worked two miracles: Healing of the blind man and the Raising of Lazarus from the Dead.
You would think that both of these miracles would be well received, even if you took out the supernatural, let’s say both were medically down under sciences.
Why not celebrate someone getting their sight or getting someone’s heart back beating?
The Witness of Christ produces two results
People Believe: They Embrace Jesus and all that comes with Christ.
People Reject: They become indifferent or indignant to Jesus and all that love Jesus
Now let’s consider several things
Cultural Battle
Battle for truth,
A Battle for relationship with God over The Dead works of Religion
Power Struggle with God

Why not celebrate someone getting their sight or getting someone’s heart back beating?
The hearts where harden even more to the point where the ran to the Pharisees and informed them what had happened
The problem :The Wickedness against Jesus (11:45–53)
(11:45–48)
1. Evil council (11:45–47): The Pharisees call a meeting to discuss the attention Jesus is receiving because of his miracles.
2. Their concern (11:48) They are afraid that the works of Jesus and his influence will cost them their seats of influence ( They cloak by making is sound like they are concerned for the nation)
Religion creates Power and Control Issues
Leaders can get addicted to the Power and Prestige associated with Spiritual Leadership
People connected those in leadership also fight for their significance that comes through those relationships and identity
People in Religion really do not want to see people living lives of freedom in Christ.
They want people to pledge allegiance to them and follow a moral law and code that they believe they control.
So when Jesus is working in the midst of his people to destroy our religious strongholds to walk in true freedom you will always have slaves of the law who think what you are doing is wrong and they will become indignant trying to destroy what you stand for.
There are people who don’t want you to be successful and anything that you do they will run to your adversaries to twist and misrepresent what God is doing
The prophecy (11:49–52)
The high priest Caiaphas says: “Why should the whole nation be destroyed?
Let this one man die for the people.”
God can use any person to give a word and it isn’t necessary that they understand the prophetic word they utter
Just because someone is used by God to speak a word doesn’t mean they have a relationship with God
The plot (11:53)
From that day on they plot to kill Jesus!
Jesus Withdraws from the controversy
Sometimes you have remove yourself from heated situations, controversy, especially when the fight will be counterproductive for the mission that God has called you to battles lie
Many people at the Passover feast wonder if Jesus will attend
