page 130:
point why jesus is a compelling leader is his willingness to die.
being a sacrificial lover and compelling leader is what motivates the church to serve him.
Leadership is taking the initiative for the benefit of others.
loving our wives:
Ephesians 5:25 NIV
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
ephesians 5:
the husband is exhorted to reflect jesus’s sacrificial leadership in reltation to his wife in verse 25.
elaberate on this roger:
as men we need to become students of our wives. that means understanding what sets her off emotionally, her needs, her passion, and her preferences.
Ephesians 5:21–33 NIV
21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. 22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church—30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
ephesians 5:
Titus 3:5 NIV
5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,

Men must be home, Men must be Present.
our presence sets the culture of the house. jesus has restored the ability for the man not to be passive and/or aggressive presence in the home, but one that impacts the life of one’s wife and children.
It’s ok to be disliked, but its not ok to be disliked for the wrong reasons.
a true leader is sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, sound in love, sound in steadfastness.
THE BLESSING OF CHILDREN:
Psalm 127:1–5 NIV
1 Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. 2 In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves. 3 Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. 4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. 5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.
psalms 127
Psalm 128:1–6 NIV
1 Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him. 2 You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. 3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. 4 Yes, this will be the blessing for the man who fears the Lord. 5 May the Lord bless you from Zion; may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life. 6 May you live to see your children’s children— peace be on Israel.
the lord as a builder of the house, and the fear of the lord. both are intimatly connected in the life of a man as the home is being developed. your sons are to be given direction by their fathers on how to lead a household.
Young men hunger for their dad’s to lead them. spending time with our sons is unforgettable for them. but the most important that to do is point them to jesus.
