Introduction:
Minor Prophets
12 Minor Prophets also known as the book of 12 because they would have been typically circulated on the same scroll.
Hosea is the first of the minor prophets in the cannon.
Prophetic Career ranges from Jereboem II to Hezekiah.
A prophet for the Northern Kingdom.
During his time as prophet the nation went from general affluence and military might to poverty and defeat and back again.
After Jereboem’s death, Israel degenerated into an state of almost anarchy going through 6 kings in 30 years.
The real reason Israel crumbled during this time was God’s judgement on His people for their sin.
Hosea and Amos are written to that end.
