Introduction: Story of endurance runner.
Transition: Our big point today is this.. Read along with me in your Bibles as we begin to study Psalm 119:89-96.
Point: God’s word is unlimited. (89 & 96)

God’s Word is Unlimited.

Transition: God’s word is forever perfect in all that it has been revealed to accomplish. Teh reason we can make this truth staement is becasue of what we read in verses 89 & 96. They prove to be bookends for this Psalm. (Observe what they say)
The nature of the Holy Scriptures is that they are without limit and therefore when we belong to God in Christ we have access to the limitless impact of God’s word. It is much like what we read in Is 55:10-11 This truth leads us to ask a question...
Isaiah 55:10–11 ESV
“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

How does God’s unlimited Word impact His servants?

How does God’s unlimited word impact His servants? Five areas that God’s perfect word accomplishes in the life of a Christian.
endurance (90-91) The reason why we can persevere with life of faithfulness is because the Lord endures in His faithfulness. Not just to us, to all generations. (Have generations line up. )
delight (92) To delight in something is to find extreme pleasure and satisfaction in that object. The psalmist is saying if I had found my ultimate pleasure, my total satisfaction in something other than your word I would have crumbled under affliction. What is your ultimate pleasure resting in? What is the focus of my conversation? Is the Word my delight? We would all do well to examine our hearts and ask who’s word we are truly finding our satisfaction in.
Perhaps one reason we are not experiencing the impact of God word is because of the idolatry of attaching our affections to other words. We are finding our ultimate pleasure in other words that will never prove to accomplish the fruit for which we are giving them the worship. Am I resting more in singing the most popular pop song or quoting from the best movie, or recounting the play by play action of the best game, or regurgitation the news of the best politician, or reciting the best poet... or am I finding my ultimate delight in God’s unlimited word? All other words in comparison to God’s word will fail, will perish in affliction, will never make payment on the pleasure that they promise. But God’s word will!
life (93) It is the precepts or direct orders of God that has given this servant life. He is revived, and refreshed, and renewed by what God has said is right and wrong. He has found zeal and purpose by remembering God’s precepts for life. This is another impact of the unlimited word of God. It gives life whereas other precepts do not. It reminds us of the Words of Jesus in John 10:10 ...
John 10:10 ESV
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
Transition: Not only does God’s unlimited word grant His servants endurance, not only does it offer true delight, and purposeful life, but it also it establishes..
4. identity (94) This prayer shows us what is means to remember and seek after God’s precepts. Notice, these are a result of belonging to the Lord. He says emphatically, “I am yours”. He knew to whom He belonged. He was confident in who he had believed and knew that His identity and salvation was from the Lord. This phrase reminds me of a great old hymn by Fannie Crosby entitled “I am Thine O Lord.”
I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,   And it told Thy love to me; But I long to rise in the arms of faith,   And be closer drawn to Thee.
Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,   To the cross where Thou hast died; Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,     To Thy precious, bleeding side.
Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,   By the pow’r of grace divine; Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,   And my will be lost in Thine.
O the pure delight of a single hour   That before Thy throne I spend, When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,   I commune as friend with friend!
There are depths of love that I yet may know   Ere Thee face to face I see; There are heights of joy that I yet may reach   Ere I rest in peace with Thee.
5. mind (95) When David says that he is considering the Lord’s testimonies in contrast to the wicked who wait to destroy him, he is saying that he is thinking about the Lord’s covenant oath to him instead of the plots of the wicked. The unlimited word of God is impacting his mind. He is setting his mind and paying attention to God’s word in contrast to the threats of wicked men.
Our minds may have certain limitations , however, when we consider the unlimited word of God we will be renewed. The Scripture tell us in Romans 12:1-2.
Romans 12:1–2 ESV
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Application: Since Gods awesome word is unlimited, there is nothing else in this earth that we should be as concerned with for our own lives and those of the next generation.
Illustration: When it comes to passing on a heritage to our children and grandchildren think of this. Physically speaking, we do not have to even make an attempt to pass on limitations. For example, if we have certain propensities to high blood pressure we will pass that on without even trying. We may try to caution that with teaching our children good eating and exercise habits but the reality is those habits will be limited. We may seek to offer our children many good and wonderful things, but there is only one thing that is unlimited and will prove to have eternal fruitfulness. The awesome word of God.

What impact is God’s unlimited word having on my life? How am I seeking to pass on God’s unlimited Word to the next generation?

What impact is God’s unlimited word having on my endurance, delight, since of purpose, since of belonging, my mind? How am I proving to be a conduit of God’s faithfulness and unlimited word?
Closing: Be encouraged. Whatever limitation we may appeal to as the reason for not reading, studying, absorbing, listening to , memorizing, and obeying God’s word they are dwarf by the insurmountable , perfect, steadfast, everlasting, limitless Word of God.
This is what I mean. We may say, my time is limited and I don't have extra time to read the Bible much less read it to my children. The fact that God’s word is not limited to time empowers you to prioritize your schedule.
We may say, I am limited in my ability to read and comprehend, so even when I have tried to study the Bible it makes very little since to me. The reality that God’s word is not limited makes us able to refocus and reestablish our thoughts by the power of the Holy Spirit who inspired the Word to be written and illuminates our minds to understanding. It may simply be that we need to change our attitude and approach to God’s word. Rather than focusing on my limited ability we can focus on the unlimited ability of the word and proceed with our prayerful study.
Since the Bible it is without any flaw or defect, since the Bible is unlimited in its far reaching ability to accomplish that for which it was purposed, we have no appeal to make in regard to our limitations. No excuse will do for you and I here today.
However, I do think there is one limitation that we should all be very aware of in our world. According to the Jungle Aviation and Radio Service web site, (AKA JARRS) “Nearly 600 million people speaking roughly 5,000 languages still have little-to-no Scripture in a language they can fully understand.”
For those in Christ, who is the perfect word, we can experience the impact of His limitless Word in our lives. We can by, the power of the Holy Spirit, pass on a delighted passion for the unlimited word of God to the next generation.
