Paul didn’t know the church at Colossae personally
Colossians 1:3-4
“…heard of your faith”
Paul doesn’t know the church at Colossae, he’s only heard of their faith
Faith, Hope, & Love
Paul’s understanding of the Christian life can be summarized in these 3 words.
Faith in what Christ has already accomplished on our behalf
Love for God and man
Hope in life eternal with God and what is to come
Colossians 1:6-7
Unstoppable nature of the Gospel
vs. 6 is a description of the gospel.
The last word of vs. 5 is “gospel” comma, then vs. 6 describes it
“…come to you” (It’s moving, empowered by the Spirit to go)
“in the whole world”
It’s growing “ bearing fruit and increasing”
It leave evidence everywhere it goes - “As it also does among you” : You (Colossae) are evidence of the Spirit’s power in ensuring the gospel go’s
and I would argue you (Grace Life Baptist Church) are evidence of that as well.
Our task : Faithfulness
Not everyone will plant a church.
