1Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

Today's message is given in this form of a question: What would you do if Jesus came back today?
I really don't have an introduction due to this title being what it is? If anything I would ask how you would adjust your life if you knew Christ was coming back, which he is. The answer should already be in existence if we cliam to be a child of the most high, in other words, I am in position to receive and execute my God Sized Assignment being in his will and the major adjustment is being made as I serve the lord.
For those who are not connected in Christ, because you can’t be in and out. if we knew he was coming back today, Maybe you would not have done what I did last night or maybe I would not being wearing this suit or for the ladies this particular dress, But we must understand that Christ is coming back to take a picture of what you wearing, but he’s coming back for his church that bares not spot or wrinkle, He’s coming back for those who are not intentionally dwelling in sin. the answer to this message this morning is repent and prayerfully this message will encourage someone to do just that before it’s took late.

I have 3 points to share this morning and they are to: Be Wise, Keep the fellowship, and Be Ready.
My first point is: Be Wise
We see in the scripture that Jesus is speaking per the bold red lettering per the King James Bible; other bibles hopefully show the same thing.
The scripture starts by sharing the comparison of heaven, that’s place, that city where most people think their going, some would hope there going and the few that know they will be their due to their relationship and obedience to his word? The question is where do you fall? This message is not a membership message but one of discipleship.
We know that the word disciple is learner, but when we emphasize on discipleship it’s defined as adherence to a teacher’s faith and instructions and to the test of obedience, faithfulnesses, perseverance, love, humility, and to surrendering all this.
Jesus is sharing a warning and sharing the parable of 10 Virgins, which is Israel, also on this glorious return Israel, will be judged.
To many times, parents and those who care about us gives us a warning not to do certain things whether it be financially, life guidance, or common sense and we can’t blame God when he is constantly warning us to live right according to his word. Choose the wise road by following the lord instructions. At Bible Study here at Metropolitan we call it Basic instructions before leaving earth. Be wise brothers and sisters, be wise!
Vs. reads
2And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
Now that we know to be wise, the second point is to keep the fellowship. We must understand that 5 Virgins knew that the Goal was to not miss the bridegroom who is coming to the wedding, here’s the choice made as we face today in life to walk in spirit or not: verse 3 and 4 said:
3They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
To focus on carrying out the oil in the flasks along with their lamps was to be ready for the procession which is defined as to move along, to go forward.
The procession would follow as the bridegroom took the bride to his house for the completion of festivities.
Verse 5
5While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
Now, I don’t want you to miss this because Jesus is letting us know that this is a night wedding that’s about to happen here.
Here’s some more content of understanding, let’s break it down here:
The oil is symbolic of the spirit of God. Therefore if you got Oil you are in the spirit. Many people today don’t have the spirit, they do not have the oil to let their light shine, are we understanding; bear with me as I relate this truth
The lamps here were torches that were needed for the procession. The virgins that kept oil were moving by faith, therefore this was faith in action.
You being here today is not a waste of your life, but when in the world do your own thing, which gives no recognition to Christ, is a waste of life.
Today, many people are living their life as if the lord is not coming back for his church; many are trying to push their own agenda, which is why they never get to the true assignment that God called them too. You cannot serve yourself and God, You cannot fake it with God, but you can play church with man and cover you sins all you want, but God knows, in fact the :
13He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
Keep on lying to yourself, God knows the truth.
Overall, verses: 1-4 starts by comparing heaven to 10 virgins, 5 who are prudent meaning that they were wise in handling practical matters, to exercise good judgment or common sense.
5 were wise and 5 were foolish and now those who were foolish is defined or means: the lacking of good sense to common judgment, and unwise.
As some would say, here’s the kicker as we continue to look at scripture:
Back to verse 5-9, this reads:
5While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
Verse 5, starts by saying that they slept, but though both the foolish and the wise slumbered and slept, the difference here is that some had the Holy Spirit. (The oil). Today, regardless Christian or not we all sleep, just as we all will be judged.
VS 8 when the 5 unwise virgins recognized that the bridegroom came like a thief in the night, they were not prepared and yet they knew he was coming and did not prepare.
Today, I am encouraging you/me/everybody and again letting you know that the Lord is coming back for his church and if you don’t have the oil, that spirit of God that gives peace, life and direction for eternal life. You will miss the call and judgment will come.
This is a faith call, a faith decision, a choice, here an example story, (how many of you been to the circus)
--Example: there was a young boy with his father who took him to the circus and was crowded with standing room only, the boy could not see what was going on and yet the show will not be forever. The boy looked at his father and made the decision to open his arms up and his father smiled and picked his him up and put him on his shoulder and he could see it all!
What the point preacher, I’m glad you asked, In the spiritual to many of us are missing the show like this little boy was:
we wont look to God because we to proud
we wont look to God because we thank we see it all
we wont look to God because we got a position
we keep missing the show
But if you get to know God as your personal savior, he will pick, he exalt you in due time and you won’t miss out like these 5 virgins who now has to go and buy some oil.
Vs 10-13
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
My final point this morning is be ready, another way to says this is be alert as quoted in the scripture.
Vs. 10 lets us know while the foolish virgins were away, the door was shut, for us today:
If we hear the word and do not heed
If we turn a deaf ear
If we don’t get the oil as warned, there will come a time where the door will shut and there will be not reentrance, not back door!
Vs11-12
11Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
The warning us out! The call is out!
This remind me of a earlier scripture in the days of Noah and the Ark. We find out that one the word was given out to the people in scripture and they did not heed. Only those in the ark were safe because it was too late, this vessel was sealed by God. When Jesus comes back that will be it and here’s the answer to the question presented when Jesus comes back! We can’t do nothing but receive him b/c after that will be judgment.
I know you see the bumper stickers when you riding down the road that say let’s coexist (means all religions being one), but the scripture says he’s a jealous God and thou shall have not other Gods before him, therefore coexist is confusion and there’s only one way through the father and that’s through Jesus Christ
Theirs no Imma good person, because they will be a lot of Good people going to hell, and will miss the call because they think, which is self infliction that that they are good.
Vs 13 he concludes with this warning,
13Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
The attitude placed on the church here for the future period is to watch, not to be stagnated or hold up the praise, but to occupy till he comes back. Therefore active in his ministry, therefore praying without ceasing and loving one another truly!
God is coming back for his church; his church will be the wise ones who obeyed when the world is telling you otherwise. The virgins are the example of obedience because while the had the time they filled the lamps with oil and heeded the call when it was delivered. They were ready.
J Vernon McGee explains that the parable of the ten virgins is the basis for those who believe in what is known as the partial rapture, where only some will be taken out of the world.
The virgins who wise wise were taken by the lord for the wedding, again we will not have an excuse.
The point here is that God has given us the word of God and in it is the warnings!
He says be watchful
He says I am coming back
He says if you follow my commandment then I will bless
He says greater he that in me than he….
He said to abide in him
He said to not freight for he draws ny
He says love not the world neither the things of the world ….
I just want to encourage everyone under the sound of a sinner saved voice to not choose the road of foolishness like these five virgins did and miss out on eternal life with the lord, the final curtain call.
We need to be on the alert, not looking over the shoulder b/c this will mean that I am up to no Good, but I am talking about being faithful till the day he returns.
The light I have is his word, and the comforter I have is the Holy Spirit which the lord himself left with us. My rock/my refuge/my fortress/My Jesus. Do you believe! What would you do if Jesus cam back today? The answer is you can’t do nothing because it will be too late if you have not confessed and believed in him as says. He died for the sins of the world, died that we would have a life eternally with God ALMIGHTY!
He is coming, for the bridegroom calleth all the be ready. You just heard another message to get it right with the lord, don’t wait! Come to Christ! He who died for the sins of the world, died that we would have a life eternally with God, who rose up early Sunday with all power in his hand.
If Jesus came back today, where would you be truly? May God bless you and keep you in his Holy Word.
