THE COVENANT MAKING GOD

Foundation scriptures: Genesis 1 

                                    Luke 4:14

I.      God released His Word; there was no challenge against His faith Word

II.               God created the ultimate ... His own image ... with the WORD of His Power.

III.             After the fall, God created another with His Word, the Son of man, by making a covenant with man (Hebrews 1:6-12).

IV. To preach is to make a covenant (Luke 4:14; Acts 10:34

A.           The anointing is on the Word to accomplish what is preached.

B.            Acts 10:42-44

C.            Luke 5:17

D . Ephesians 2:11-19

V.     Jesus gave gifts. He anointed men to go and make a covenant with the world.

       You accepted and now you live by faith in that covenant (2 Peter 1:4 )

WHY THE COVENANT

Foundation scriptures: Ephesians 2:12,3:14-21

I.       Agape-hesed passes knowledge.

K.           It's too rich for man's mind (Ephesians 3:16).

L.            For Jesus to abide in us in fullness, we must be rooted al agape-hesed.

II. God cut the covenant with Abram so he cquld know (Genesi

A.           Many of those in Ephesians 2:12 believe in God but are, when they need Him most.

B.            God wanted the heirs of prOmise to KNOW, not just be (Hebrews 6:17).


 

III. We are the seed of Abraham and heirs according to promise (Genesis 17:1-7; Galatians 3:13-14,29).

A.            The picture of our covenant.

B.            David is driven to give to Jonathan's seed for Jonathan's sake. Mephibo­sheth had nothing to do with it except to receive (2 Samuel 9:1).

Mercy, hesed, agape:

1.This is the driving of compassion to give-to enter a covenant of blood forever for someone else's benefit; to promise to give until it is too good to be true. Then swear in your own blood in order to prove you're not lying-so they can believe and receive. It's no good if they cannot receive. The seed of that love is in us at the time of the New Birth waiting to be planted so it can grow.

2.Seen 242 times in the Old Covenant-loving-kindness, grace, steadfast love, mercy, goodness, faithfulness, devotion, favor, strength.

3.The deepest desire to give compassion = the drive brought about by mercy-"To be full of eager yearning."

4.To promise to give, to help, to restore, etc., until it is too good to be true and then swear in your own blood to prove you're not lying to ensure it is received.

5.To enter a covenant of blood forever, totally, for someone else's benefit and blessing.

6.To give yourself totally and all you have to someone who has nothing.

Hesed-240 times in the Old Testament.

I.        Covenant made by blood.

J.             Recorded in all ancient civilizations. The total giving of one's self to another forever.

Seek-you'll find. Ask-you'll receive NOW [It, however, must be received by faith because it is a benefit (Psalms 105:2-4).]

Developing a Covenant Consciousness

NOTE: Strife-The reciprocal of agape-mercy-hesed. Strife turns inward instead of giving. Shutting up compassion. (1 John 3:17).

I.       Hesed (Matthew 9:13; Hosea 6:6; Luke 6:36).

J.                 Compassion.

1.                     What a mother and father will do to answer a child's need.

a.                            This desire to give is expected.

b.                            This desire to give is natural.

2.                    A covenant brings a hesed relationship by an act of the will and the swearing of an oath.

3.                     Hesed is brought into our relationship by an act of our will both nat­urally and supernaturally.

a.                            By God being our Father.

b.                            By covenant.

4.                     Acts 13:32-34; Isaiah 55:1-5; 1 Samuel 18:1-4; 2 Samuel 9.

B.               We are knit together in covenant love.

III. Always remember, Jesus never fails and God never fails.

A.               If it doesn't work, we failed.

B.               God does not change; our prayer does not change God.

e. Faith changes things, not God.
