Are You Missing Seeing Jesus This Christmas?

READ
Luke 2:7–17 KJV 1900
7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. 8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, Good will toward men. 15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Beth-lehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. 16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. 17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
luke 2.7-
The shepherds saw Jesus, but some of the characters in this story missed seeing Him. As you consider them, ask yourself whether you are missing Jesus for the same reasons:
I The innkeeper missed Jesus because of ignorant preoccupation –
Luke 2:7 KJV 1900
7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
No room in the inn. Preoccupied with everything but Christ..... slow down and stop and realized theat he has a plan for your life.....
Too many have put jesus out to the stable because we are too busy for him .....
Illustration - preoccupied missing …
The crew for the titanic were so preoccupied they forgot the binoculars and hit the icebuge that led to thousands of deaths.
II The religious leaders missed Him because of self-righteous, prideful indifference –
· Herod the Great missed Him because of jealous fear – , ,
Matthew 2:3 KJV 1900
3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
· The religious leaders missed Him because of self-righteous, prideful indifference –
Matthew 2:4–6 KJV 1900
4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. 5 And they said unto him, In Beth-lehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, 6 And thou Beth-lehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
They missed because they had their own idea about the savior and did not even know where the Christ child should be born. Bethlehem was clearly identified in the bible but they did not know what it said.....
Will you miss Jesus because of indifference?
so what
III The people of Jerusalem missed Him because of religious ritual – ,
Luke 2:22–24 KJV 1900
22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord; 23 (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;) 24 And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.
They had religion, rituals and traditions. But they missed jesus because of their traditions....
The Jesus of the Bible wants you please don't miss him because he does not match up with your religious tradition.
Luke 2:1–2 KJV 1900
1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. 2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
IV The people of Nazareth missed Him because of familiarity – , , , ;
Luke 2:39 KJV 1900
39 And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.
John 1:10–11 KJV 1900
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
Some here tonight will miss Jesus because you are so familiar with the story you missed the story.....
It’s said that one of the dangers of flying for a pilot is to because familiar and complacent. It there that you miss danger
Stop for a moment - what is Christ to you ....
Have you accepted him as you savior for Forgiveness of sins....
It not a church, or an age have you ever come to the point a asking jesus to save you ?
Your so familiar but miss it totally .......
May 1988 I asked Jesus to save me and you can too?
Don’t let this Christmas go by without having assurance of your salvation ....
People today have the chance to meet Him in
John 1:12 KJV 1900
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Have you entered into this Father-child relationship by receiving Jesus, or have you, too, missed Him? Settle it with the Lord tonight!!!
