Luke 1:46–56 NKJV
46 And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, 47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. 48 For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. 49 For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name. 50 And His mercy is on those who fear Him From generation to generation. 51 He has shown strength with His arm; He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 52 He has put down the mighty from their thrones, And exalted the lowly. 53 He has filled the hungry with good things, And the rich He has sent away empty. 54 He has helped His servant Israel, In remembrance of His mercy, 55 As He spoke to our fathers, To Abraham and to his seed forever.” 56 And Mary remained with her about three months, and returned to her house.

Introduction: Previous weeks
in week one of advent we said:
there is something for serving God beyond your feelings.
seeing God face to face is not always warm and fuzzy. However its always life changing.
when God speaks we should obey.
In week two of Advent we said:
God had a plan for Mary’s life. (as well as for you)
Nothing is impossible with God
Mary submits to God competently.(and we should too)
in week three of advent we said
Zacharia where ready to meet Marys need Physicaly
Father God used Elizabeth to teach and equip her.

Point Place Holder

God uses Elizabeth to confirm God’s will and promise for her.
This week:

1) Mary’s Whole Person Praises the Lord.

Luke 1:46–47 NKJV
46 And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, 47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.

Her soul Magnifies the Lord.

her soul Magnifies the Lord.
the word Magnify is in the Greek megalynei it literally means “enlarge, ” in the context in connotes ascription of the greatness of God.
Can we make God greater than He is ? of course not!
so then how do we magnify the Lord?
of course this is a matter of focus.
this fellowship has gone through quite a bit in the last month alone:
we have had two of our members go to their heavenly reward.
we have had a youth in our midst have cancer scare and surgery.
we have a sister currently fighting cancer.
we have four different people in our church with uncertainty in their employment.
we have people who are struggling spiritually and emotionally.
we (as we always have) have people who are struggling in their sobriety because it is times like these that we realize what has been lost.
these are just some of the things that I know about.
there are these times in all of our lives, BUT Mary, takes charge of her soul. ( her thought life and her emotional life) and she puts in the forefront of her mind the Lord and His Greatness.

Mary had reason not to be happy, she was going through a tough time.

Don’t forget she obeyed God and she got sent away because of it.

Rather than singing the blues she magnified the Lord.

not putting anyone on blast this morning.
have no idea what that is like.
but I have seen Justin worship
i have seen Deadra and her family in the house of God
Jesse
Suzahn is in the house of the Lord as much as her body will let her. in matter of fact i have seen awesome involvement from people who are truly going through.
rather than .singing the blues she magnified the Lord. ed their minds to the glory of their God.
that's what we need to do.
we need to put are mind of things of God.
rather than .singing the blues she magnified the Lord. ed their minds to the glory of their God. d ones, they are training their mind to focus on God.
fear has been a habit of the mind. in my prayer time especially in the light of my brothers and sisters i am trying to break the mental and emotional habit of fear.
I control my mind.

As she turns her focus to the greatness of God her Spirit rejoices.

when she gets her mind on track her spirit can respond.

Can I change things through worry?

Absolutely!

Not for the better

Jesus warns us in that we will not be able to ad a single inch to our height through worry.
:
WAIT you said we can change things, what changes?
My countenance,
my peace leaves.
my thoughts for others and the peace of God.
my productivity.
many times we can loose even more ground because we are stunted.

Luke 1:48–49 NKJV
48 For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. 49 For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name.

2) She Praises God in the moment.

Luke 1:48 NKJV
48 For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.
she calls her state lowly.
then she confirms what the messenger said and Elizabeth confirms.
she wont be on this planet when it happens in it’s fullness, and it will be 33 years before she see’s the first fruits of it in the early I christian community.
Luke 1:49 NKJV
49 For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name.

“He has done great things for me,”

I Know He has done great things for me!

first he saved me! by the grace of God, I have seen glimpses of what my life could have been with out his saving grace.
three times that I know of He saved my Life:
once was at my birth.
once from Gun point. (and I got to worship with the gunman later)
once he saved me and the driver from a head on collision.
I grew up in a christ reaching home.
I grew up in a God fearing Church.
I grew up in a community that did not label me.
I have a family, they are healthy.
He delivered me from sin i could not keep myself from.
they are healthy
i have was in a dessert time and he provided for me from places i didn’t even see coming.
I have this church to worship in and i have you for fellowship! yes Blessed me with this place and He even blessed me with you!

let me ask you, has He done great things for you?

will you let your soul Magnify the Lord so that your spirit can rejoice ?

Luke 1:50–55 NKJV
50 And His mercy is on those who fear Him From generation to generation. 51 He has shown strength with His arm; He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 52 He has put down the mighty from their thrones, And exalted the lowly. 53 He has filled the hungry with good things, And the rich He has sent away empty. 54 He has helped His servant Israel, In remembrance of His mercy, 55 As He spoke to our fathers, To Abraham and to his seed forever.”
Luke 1:50–52 NKJV
50 And His mercy is on those who fear Him From generation to generation. 51 He has shown strength with His arm; He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 52 He has put down the mighty from their thrones, And exalted the lowly.

3) God will fulfill all that is in His heart to do.

12 Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.”

12 Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.

12 Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.”

The Holy Bible: English Standard Version. (2016). (). Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles.
Jeremiah 1:11 KJV 1900
11 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.

3)Father God will do what He said He would do .

the clue to the rest of this text is found in the last two verses of the song.

54 He has helped His servant Israel, In remembrance of His mercy, 55 As He spoke to our fathers, To Abraham and to his seed forever.”
Jeremiah 1:12 NKJV
12 Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.”

12 Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.

12 Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.”

Luke 1:50 NKJV
50 And His mercy is on those who fear Him From generation to generation.
v
Hear as often the word “fear” pious reverence.

a: marked by or showing reverence for deity and devotion to divine worship

1: honor or respect felt or shown: DEFERENCE especially: profound adoring awed respect

we should never allow the things of God to become average or common place in our life.
never should we take the Grace of God for granted.
we should never make light of the things of God.
Luke 1:51 NKJV
51 He has shown strength with His arm; He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
Proverbs 3:34 NKJV
34 Surely He scorns the scornful, But gives grace to the humble.
this verse is also quoted twice in the NT and
Luke 1:52 NKJV
52 He has put down the mighty from their thrones, And exalted the lowly.
here Mary reefers to her class.
1 Samuel 16:7 NKJV
7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Luke 1:53 NKJV
53 He has filled the hungry with good things, And the rich He has sent away empty.
what does “the rich away empty mean ?”
this has more to do with trusting in riches.
