I want us together, to look at one section of Scripture that I believe discusses the Gospel at one of its most fundamental levels. Somewhere that very simply demonstrates what God has done and why. This is contained in . Were going to start in verse 19 and end with the end of the chapter. In verse 19 we come to the point where Paul has so far in the whole beginning of the book proved that everyone everywhere is guilty before God, and there is no human being that can say they are blameless.
In this section we are going to cover, there are three points that I want us to look for.
God has humbled us
God has called us back to himself
We can’t be proud in ourselves or save ourselves from our condition
We can derive these points from the text by repeatedly asking the question WHY?
Constantly ask WHY? Why did God do this? What does He want us to understand?
Read text and repeat three main points

I. God has humbled us (v.19-25a)

A. God gave law and rule
No necessity to just mean Law of Moses
B.
WHY?
B. So that everyone would be held accountable before God
i. Through the Law or any law, comes the knowledge of sin
ii. We all would be aware of wrong that we have done
Have you ever done something wrong? Yes? Then you have confirmation of this truth in your own life.

II. God has called us back to Himself (v.25b-26)

A. Our state is reaffirmed
B. God presents Jesus as the solution to our problem
WHY?
C. God presented Him to demonstrate His righteousness
i. So God “would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus”
No matter what color you are, status, education, or how bad you might be, God recognized your status and did something about it, so that you would see He wants you.

III. We cannot be proud or save ourselves (v.27)

A. What God has done rules out us every being able to be proud of ourselves, or to think we are great and can save ourselves
WHY?
B. We are justified through faith in Jesus
C. God’s solution to our problem is to humble us, and build us back up, but in Himself
No matter if you’re smart, rich, good looking, or generally a good person. This will not save you. We are all condemned before God, but He has called you back to Himself, and fixed your problem for you.
If you’re Christian, and you live your life without the humility that is described here, why are you doing it? You’ve made it a law to yourself, to save yourself then on your own goodness. Let the humility of the Gospel drive you to live as you have been called to.

Conclusion

Everyone in this room able to tell the difference between right and wrong is in the same boat. All of us have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory, and God has made us accountable to that. But He has called us back to Him so that we would be built back up in Him and He can redeem us to where we were supposed to be. This is the foundation on the Gospel.
