It's Christians wait for the light of Christmas. The four Advent candles are lit with each week's passing and blue decorate the altar to receive our came with hope so we know that are hoping and waiting doesn't stop at Christmas because he's coming back on the last day II. Go as we hope for Christmas we continue to wait and pray for our savior to come again.

Add before I just thought it was Christmas time. As we move into this Christmas season y'all believe it's December already. Like 2018 like I don't sauce through 11 months of another year. We are already in December and so in December is where many churches take a shift as I start to move towards Christmas. And as we saw in the video It's called Advent which mean he's he's coming unto us and we're waiting for that coming and so in that waiting we're going to spend the month of December with Jesus when we have our four Advent candles and a little bit of blue to represent that
But this time of year, it's funny because some kids were remember. This is like some of the joyous times y'all. Maybe I got some of y'all best gifts Power Wheels. Am I dating myself? Roller skate dolls, Kenya no, let me come up a little bit a tablet PlayStation.
You make me feel old.
But doing this time where we really try to focus on giving the reason that we do that is cuz a lot of people say that the Magi or the wise man took three gifts to Jesus. And so that's why we say we give gifts to one another but this season when you really put it in perspective this season is not about toys or gadgets. We've made it so much so about that that sometime when parents can't provide the that toy that sang that's hot this season. Yeah. I remember people's fighting over tickle me Elmos like we got parents out here fighting for Elmo. So I got to witness back there fighting for Elmo and and they just want to get their kids that one gift. They want they want to get on that bike and although that brought is bringing joy to us and it brings memories. This season is not about consumerism. Cuz that's what that is in America. We make it a season to buy stuff. We get catalogs and commercials and all this stuff because this season is not about what we give to each other event is really about what God has given to us. And so down through that waiting. 700 years from a time of Isaiah's prophecy. There has been a waiting in the earth's there was waiting for this child. That was a waiting for this baby. And then we get in the scripture a little bit will see that we celebrate this month because we celebrate the fact that I am here. But by the time we finish this sermon, hopefully we'll be able to add what it means that I am here now then go to the first scripture shop.
Is Isaiah 14 714 700 years, like I said before Christ is even born. Humanity waited on him and isn't it funny? Is it that sometime we we song on time God may not come when you want him, but it'll be right on time sometime God's timing just seem not to make sense for us like after the phone. Why can't he just sent Jesus like literally the next year but he waited seven hundred years from this prophecy more than that from Abraham. And this is the prophecy said there for the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold the Virgin shall conceive and bear a son. And shall call his name Emmanuel Emmanuel means we talked about it last week a little bit and means God With Us. It says the Lord himself will give you a sign. That's why the season of giving is not so much about what we give each other but the fact that the lord gave this sign that a virgin which is seemingly impossible. It's going to conceive and bear a son and his name will be God with us because God is literally about to embody a human body so that he can live with us and that body that he embodies is that of Jesus Christ the one that we waited on and wait it on and wait it on. I just Jewish people but humanity and the Earth for centuries. So we're going to jump right back in you can go forward Shawn. We got to jump right back in. the where we were last week last week we talked about Luke 4 and look for Jesus. Let me give you some context. Jesus is baptized and it says that the dove comes upon him in the father says this is my son in whom I am well pleased and he's been announced in front of all the people and and as soon as after he's baptize the Bible says that he was led into the Wilderness of the holy spirit so he could be tempted of the devil for 40 days. So after that Temptation Jesus emerges with power and so we jump right here is after the Temptation. It says then Jesus return to Galilee filled with the spirits power. Reports about him spread quickly through the whole region and he taught regularly in their synagogue and was praised by every once in one thing about Jesus to synagogue is in essence what we would call the church today all the time. It's so funny the Practical things you'll see in his life. He went to church all the time. He prayed all the time. He got away all the time. He commune with the father all the time. It says when it came to the Village of Nazareth his boyhood home cuz Jesus from Nazareth he went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the scriptures. Tell Jesus this was his custom. This was his practice. He went to the synagogue and he would stand up and he would read and we talked about it last week this particular Sabbath day, which is you know, kind of what we call Sunday, but their actual Sabbath is on a Saturday and he stands up and this is what would be Church in the scroll of Isaiah is handed to him. Not answer the same thing about Scrolls at this time is it it's not a cute little bible. Like we got the scroll is humongous. So the Lord is standing before the congregation with the scroll and he goes to Isaiah. He unrolls it and this is the place where he found it said he found the place. Where was written? Jesus said the spirit of the Lord is upon me. For he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim the captives will be released that the blind will see that the oppressed will be set free. And at the time of the Lord's favor has come. Jesus in essence in here is saying I went back 700 years to find something that was written so that I could show you today that I am here. It says we need any rolled up to scroll handed it back to your tendon and sat down all the eyes in the synagogue looked on him intently. So everybody's looking at him. Cuz he just read something and although they read that that in Jewish tradition. You read the the Torah you read the scriptures all the time and but this time when he read it said they just they looked at him some version say gazed so they looked at Jesus and they're wondering and says sit down. And he began to speak to them. This is what he said to them. This is why it is pertinent to Evan. He said the scripture you just heard has been fulfilled this very day. He literally just made an announcement. He says I'm here. That virgin that was prophesied about and Isaiah. 7:14. I'm here now. I am in the body. I'm In the Flesh. I am reading the scripture to you. He said that scripture is for field right here in your hearing. The wait is over we talked about it on time God. He's saying the time is now I'm here and this scripture has been fulfilled by my very presence being in the synagogue and reading it to you. So he has announced that he's there. Jesus the important piece about this Isn't it only had they been waiting? But he had been hidden in plain sight up until this point. He's about 30 years old when he started his ministry so he had been around. Underneath the radar for 30 years and now he has emerged. So Emmanuel has been in the Earth for 30 years at this point and he has a merge to show them that he's here. He's been hidden in plain sight working and living and teaching but he's saying but right now this moment at this moment scripture is fulfilled and I don't think that it hit the room what that meant. I don't think they knew that the fullness of the Messiah is saying The prophecies from all this time time is culminated and now we are ready to push into a new chapter says whatever it is, it's waiting. So now we're about to push into something new. Something is totally different from the rest of time. It's about to go down now and the starting of that fulfillment is just happened in your eyes. one thing about Jesus when Joseph was debating divorce in her and putting her to the side cuz he didn't know who she was pregnant by. The angel told him he said she will have a son and you are to name him Jesus for he will save his people from their sins. So when Jesus got up in the synagogue that day and read Isaiah 61 peace and salvation is here.
The way has been made and God has come to call you back to himself for eternity. And told this Jesus is coming to relieve the people of their seeing go for some.
I said then everyone spoke well of him. And was amazed by the gracious words that came from his lips. They said how can this be? The ex isn't this Joseph son? So before we go on to what Jesus said, he spoke with such Authority that it confuse them. He had just said something in power. Because the scripture let us in knowing that when he came to the synagogue he was in the power of the Holy Spirit and they recognize the power of the Holy Spirit, but they're confused cuz they said how could this be? This is Joseph son. We know him. And is what Jesus said to them? He said you will undoubtedly quote me this proverb. Jesus said y'all are going to say to me physician heal yourself meaning do Miracles here in your hometown like the ones you did in capernium.
Is shift in just a little bit. So now they feel like they know him and they are questioning. What they just heard that I just heard a fulfillment of a prophecy that was 700 years old at this time, but their mind has tricked them out of what they just hurt because of their familiarity and he says but I tell you the truth no profit is accepted in his own Hometown. Certainly there were many widows or Jesus giving them some examples is it there were many widows in Israel in Elijah's time when the heavens were closed for three and a half years in a severe famine devastated the land yet. Elijah was not sent to any of them. He was sent instead to The Foreigner at the Widow of Zarephath in the land of siding and we just read that one a couple weeks ago and Jesus saying is not what you think. Is not all about God can open up his heart and hand to anybody cuz they're in essence. They just heard this power. They just saw this this amazement at him and they like if you so good then just hold your hometown down. Literally, they're saying rep your city. literally But they don't want him in the Fulfillment of the Messiah. They want him to run around like a magician. It's always saying listen Elijah doing that time. He didn't even he didn't even go to someone that was of the Israelite people. He went to a widow in Zarephath and he said Elijah. He said although many people had leprosy in his day that the one he healed is a story in the Bible of naming who is it a leader and he's healed of leprosy, but he's a Syrian so Jesus in essence in the scripture saying, You have missed it that quick you had seven hundred years of Prophecy that have just been revealed in your sight. But yet instead you are now want me to be a musician magician and not God. You've got to seven hundred years to bring for the Fulfillment only does it show you one. He doesn't have to be moved by circumstances in time or even Generations. He's God and when he lays that plan down it's going to work itself out. That's why his time is not our time his thoughts are not our thoughts. And so Jesus is people in his town they know and they know this boy and they have missed it. And he tries to give them a point in scripture like that. I can go wherever he want to go go forward Shawn.
It says when they heard this the people in the synagogue were furious and I wasn't that fast.
weighted they waited as a people not just as is those individuals at Dave waited on this for film it for 700 years, and now that it's here. It has been miss interpreted. What am I saying? Why does that even matter because God's plan to go move in your life. There's nothing that can stop him. The only thing that can stop you can't even stop guided times. Nothing can stop God wants that plan is laid out. But if you misinterpret the season if you misinterpret the space, you could miss something. The Bible said There Are Places In the bible where jesus could not do many miracles because of their unbelief they bought in so much doubt they bought in so much fear they bought in so much knowing everything that they couldn't even have a Miracles done cuz they couldn't muster the faith cuz they doubted so much. So now we have went from a maze at this anointing from the blessing of being in the mist of a fulfillment of a 77 year 700 year old scripture. So now he says jumping up and forced him to the edge of the Hill Jesus.
Is there a crazy to us? Do we have the same? Listen to The Edge on a hill on which the city was Bill intended to push him off the cliff. They trying to kill the Messiah before time.
from amazement to wanting to throw him off a cliff cuz he said something they didn't like. And it's something about Jesus that you know, we paint this Jesus and we think he's Meek and mild and he's he's you know, he won't say nothing. He's not confrontational. He's not this and he's not that and we are in danger of making up we talked about it last week talk about on Tuesday as well. We make up this God in our head. And he's not that and when he shows up as what he really is, we don't like that. And so we start to do what we can do what we want to do. the point is
I don't want to be amongst a group like them. Mist of the very movement of God Through Time prophetic Lee and miss it because I misinterpreted.
I don't want to be jumping up yelling Hallelujah, one moment and literally ready to throw him off the cliff of my life in the next because we be honest about it many of us have thrown Jesus off a cliff a few times.
Three tried to push me off the cliff. But like I said the plans of God, he was supposed to die on that cross to save us and forgive us our sins. It wasn't his time. It says but somehow I don't know how he passed through the crowd and went on his way cuz it wasn't his time. Go forward song.

So Jesus leave this place. So yesterday when I met last will you probably feel like I set you up cuz when I read that I read it in a very joyous way. Oh, he's here Isaiah 61, but you probably you know, unless you went back and read didn't know the other part of that thing went left after he read the scripture.
But if you eat goes on a little bit, he leaves his town. He comes back the cab took a perineum and when he gets the capernium, he heals Peter's mother-in-law and he healed some more people who is metaphase. Everybody who was sick that they brought to him. Jesus laid hands on and it healed him he also He relieved everybody that was possessed of a demon that they brought to him. So he's working in this sense. And he's he's in capernium and they are way more grateful than the people in Nazareth and they can go forward Sean. They see him moving they understand and it's early the next morning. Jesus went out to an isolated place the crowd searched everywhere for him. This is not the Nazarene crowd but the craft Nazareth but the crowd from capernium and when they finally found him They begged him not to leave. Do y'all see the contrast?
1 people scripture for field in their hearing his hometown. You got to know the Bible says when it says a prophet without people around you to close it to you. They're not going to stand it. Familiar. That's why if somebody has like a a drug problem and you know, they had a drug problem for years soon as they come talk about they say if you like. What you go? Say, they say they say now I see that's what we do when we're familiar. We get disrespectful and it says in this town Jesus healing and relieving people of demons and moving and all this stuff and they asked them they said please don't go. Do you have to pass through that we're supposed to be in in a 7th season as we close out this year and we thank God for bringing us through another one that the essence is that we want to pursue him in such a way that it's please don't go because when you're here things are better because when you're here, I'm better because when you're here, I'm at PC. It's a difference between God is looking over you and him in the Welling and his spirit being in you and coming through you and in living with you. He says he wants to live he wants to abide in you as you abide in him. That's what he tells us and John and so when he lives in you in that way, then you don't, you know, I don't want you to go. Please don't go and so did Calpurnia they get it. They said stay here set up shop. Will get your house will do whatever you want to do. In matter fact Jesus the most Miracles he did in his ministries that are recorded. The Bible says there are many things that are not recorded what the places that are recorded capernium has the most Miracles. It is a place where he was able to move freely because the people were not so familiar and they did not misinterpret what was going on. And so Jesus is in and they say don't go One group is trying to throw him off a cliff. The other group is saying don't go. What do you reply to them? He said I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God and other towns to because that is why I was sent so he's saying that is why I am here. In the Bible Moses. Ask God his name. He said they going to ask me who sent me and the Lord says tell them I am that I am. And later on in Jesus ministry. He's talking about Abraham and they were like how you going to say something about Abraham. You're not in 50 years old in Jesus said something else and make some Maddie says before Abraham I am. So this is where the title is messages from I am here. Now V I am is here. Now. That's what he was saying to them and I synagogue in Nazareth, even though they missed it V I am is here right now and some stuff is about to shift and move if you let it. But if you get caught up and down on believe and all this extra stuff, then you end up like Nazareth with a disdain for God what he does know who he is and why he won't answer and he hit me and why you let this Linger on versus capernium who are begging him not to leave.
So when he tells them that I must go it's because his Earthly Ministry, he only had three and a half years. So we had to move around and trained as a Cypress as much to get them ready to launch this out to the world.
booty also in essence is letting us know is that there will come a time when you never have to ask me to leave. You never have to ask me not to leave. There will come a time. We're after this Ascension when he sends back the Holy Spirit where I will be with you always and then after that time, there's going to be where this Earth in this everything we know about it. It's going to pass away and it's going to be a new Heaven and a new Earth and then that time will never have to leave him again. Ever ever we will join the Angels at cry 24 hours a day. Holy holy. Holy we will see him as he is.
So Jesus is trying to move them toward that place where in the earth. There is a moment that can happen where I never have to leave you cuz I can live in you but after that there is another moment when we will all be together with the father in eternity. This is what heaven is about. So it's nice that we get Christmas gifts, but we really supposed to be celebrating the gift that God has given us in the manual that he has put himself in a human body subject to himself to everything that we go through to all the rejection to all the the the hurts all the beating subjected himself to all those things so that the end of the day he can invite us back to himself. So this is our first week of Advent. In the first week of advent is Hope.
Because that's what he gave me when he stood up and read Isaiah 61. That's what they should have received with joy, and I guess they did for a moment. But I pray today is I don't ever want to be caught up so much. Did I misinterpret what he's doing and therefore can't get on the boat or the train or the bus whatever vehicle you would like. I don't want to miss him is the question. Is it the point? I don't want to miss the Fulfillment. He has in my life cuz he has some for filming in your life has stuff that you want he wants to do for you. And so if you think about it, remember I told you before he read description went through that he had been tempted of the devil. So please know that anytime you put your foot forward to do something anytime. You put your foot forward to do right anytime. You put your foot forward to let him live in you that that somehow someway the enemy will rear his head up to try to distract you from the plant that God has for you because all that mess I went on in a synagogue. It was just a distraction. So far the people who was just on Lookers who weren't trying to throw him off a cliff. They didn't receive either and that's what he wants. He wants to detract you from what you need to be wants to distract you from this promise cuz you can't do nothing about it. But I am is here now and he's ready to move some stuff for me and for you. That's why we are joyous when we talk about the coming of this baby cuz this baby changed everything he gave us hope which is the first week. 11 do me a favor bow your heads as we go to the Lord in prayer.

The word says that you didn't trust yourself to man Jesus cuz you knew what was in man. I didn't mean that you didn't love man. It just meant you knew. How we are sometimes? Love the steel God. So a prayer today. I want this first week of Advent. Is that we take this hope you have given us and we run with it like the people in capernium. That we have such an experience in you that you can manifest of all over our life that we are so in tune to you that you meant if you start popping up stuff all over our lives God in our homes begin to show yourself in our life through our lives or God that you begin to just show the light. You said that we are light and a light that should be set on a hill or God. So every act at this light begin to shine through US Lord
God we pray that and repent for every way we've been like the people in Nazareth where you bought something amazing to our lives and one second. We were Joyce and then the next second we were gone. Doubting you doubting what you can do doubting who you are God. So God, we pray on this first week of Advent that we walk away with the hope and the assurance. The V I am is here right now. And his very presence. Changes everything the creator of the universe the one who is making us inhale and exhale automatically right now. That he is here.
