Shame of Sin
In verse 8 God confronts the sin of Adam and Eve. In God commanded Adam not to eat from the tree of good and evil.
English Standard Version Chapter 2
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
Before the fall Adam and Eve walked, talked, and communed with GOD. God created them for relationship with him, and one another. GOD’S perfect creation came to an end when sin entered in. After eating the fruit, Adam and Eve’s eyes were opened, and they knew they were naked. They covered themselves with loin clothes made of fig leaves. The death that GOD told Adam about was both physical and spiritual.
After covering themselves they hid from the presence, literally the face of the LORD God, in the trees of garden.

Brothers and Sisters there are Five ways we can react to sin, when we are convicted by it.
Five Reactions to sin
Hide it from God and others. This is the first way many of us can respond to sin. We can believe we can hide it from God, or believe he doesn't care about it. We know from this passage and throughout Scripture we cannot hide or run from the presence of the LORD God. Jonah tried to run from GOD, and he was swallowed up by a big fish. Moses tried to tell GOD he was unqualified to rescue GOD’S people from Pharoah in Egypt because he wasn’t a good communicator, and GOD told him to take his brother Aaron.
Shame. We can be ashamed it, and try and cover it up. As long as no one else knows about it. A former Pastor I worked under hid his sin, and covered it up for three years, before it came to light. In a letter he wrote to the congregation confessing his sin, and apologizing for his actions. He stated the reason he didn’t seek help, and confess sooner, was he was ashamed of his sin. His sin had a profound affect on his family, church members, and denomination. He was a well respected, and highly honored Pastor. Who was a mentor for young pastors who were seeking ordination. In a matter of a week in all came to an end.
Conviction. As followers of Christ, when we do sin, we’re convicted of it. Adam was convicted over his sin, this is another reason he wanted to hide from the presence of GOD.
Repent of it, and seek forgiveness from GOD and others that it affects. Once we’re convicted of the sin, we ask forgiveness.
Deny it, and keep sinning. Until GOD brings it to light. The truth can’t be hidden forever. This is a dark place to be in, denying that we sin, or are sinners in a need of a Savior. I had a conversation a few years back with a Christian and he topic of sin came up. This person said I don’t believe I sin anymore. I responded, why do you believe this? Well, I attend church, and I read my Bible, and I don’t feel like I sin anymore. When was the last time you sinned? Three years ago. I asked about

The person said
The person still persisted they hadn’t sinned, nor is a sinner.
How do you respond to sin? Do you hide, feel shame, convicted and repent of it, or deny it and keep sinning?

In verses 9-11 The LORD asks Adam three questions the first “Where are you? Adams response I heard you in the garden and I was afraid because I was naked, and hid myself. The first mention of fear in the Bible. Adam was afraid of the LORD for the first time since he was created. Second Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree which I commanded you not to eat? Instead of taking ownership of his sin, he blames GOD and Eve. Let’s look at verse 12. The woman whom you gave to be with me, she game me the fruit of the tree, and I ate. God if you didn’t give me Eve, she wouldn’t have given me the fruit to eat, that you forbade me to eat.
We can respond to sin four ways. Adam shows us two ways
Blame GOD. You tempted me God.This is an easy response to sin, blame GOD. We learn from . This is not the right response to sin.

13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. 14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.
2. Blame others. After blaming GOD, Adam blames Eve for his sin. This is another easy way to respond to sin. Blame it on other people.

The Lord turns his attention to Eve. What is this you have done? Eve shows us the third way to respond to sin.
3. Blame Satan. She said the Serpent deceived her. Adam blamed the LORD, and Eve, and Eve blamed Satan for her outright disobedience, by being deceived by Him. Satan can deceive us as well, and lead us to into temptation and cause us to sin. c. Paul warns the Corinthians in

3 But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ
We need to be aware and understand that Satan is more cunning, wise, and crafty then we are. At one point he was the commander of all the Angels. He’s a beast, not human. His main desire and concern to prevent people from knowing Christ as the Messiah, and to lead God’s sheep astray.

In verses 14 We learn the outcome of Satan. Before the Fall, Adam and Eve were perfect, the lived in a perfect created world that GOD said was good. GOD didn’t ask any questions of the serpent, he only sentenced him. Cursed, it’s the opposite of blessing, Satan is an enemy of GOD, and GOD is an enemy of Satan. GOD has no love for Satan. He is now beneath all the livestock and the beasts of the field. The livestock and the beasts of the field have a place in heaven. Satan doesn’t his food is dirt. Isaiah 62:25

says the LORD.
There is no hope for Satan, no Advent, only torment and eventually destruction. Unlike Satan we have hope. In verse 15 Moses gives us a glimpse of the Messiah or Lord and Savior. Who paid the penalty for sin once for all when he died on the cross for the sins of the world.
GOD tells us he will put enmity between Satan and the woman between your offspring/seed and her offspring he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heal.
Isaiah 7:14
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall call his name Immanuel”
(which means, God with us).
This is the reason we celebrate Advent, as well as waiting for his second return. Jesus came to save his people, and rescue them from the penalty of sin. My prayer and hope for you is that you do believe he is the Messiah, and have a relationship wit him. And if you don’t and you have questions or you feel the Holy Spirit speaking to you. Please come talk to me, Ps On, one of the elders, a friend or family member. If you don’t have a relationship with him, you will pay for the penalty of sin, and be separated from GOD, and others for eternity.
When Jesus does return he will crush Satan under his foot.
The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
