And he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He told them take nothing. For the journey no staff no bag. No bread. No money. No extra tunic, whatever house you want or stay there until you leave that town if people do not welcome you shake the dust off your feet when you leave their town as a testimony against them. So they said out and went from Village to Village preaching the gospel and healing people everywhere may be seated.

Hey there, I'm Phillip Phillips on Philip the Apostle Philip the Evangelist different people but we we both follow Jesus. We both told people about him and all that. So I'm Philip the Apostle and when I first met Jesus, I knew he was the one okay, I just could tell I I've been following John the Baptist around and he said look the Lamb of God. That was it takes both in the world. I knew that's him. I know there's an instinct thing whatever. I knew he was the Messiah the one that Moses had written about the one that are the prophets had testified about I knew it in my heart. I am different things and big things. He always talked about was how he was sent from God and I know you're at your kind of In a season of of remembering that all right now where it where you're remembering how we we is your lights and had waited for US Century Waiting for God to send the Messiah. And and and when Jesus was here, he was very plain about telling us how he was sent from God and that he was a fulfillment of all those promises of that. We had waited to see fulfilled and what we've never discussed drilled into a man. God has sent Jesus the Messiah he's all that. Of waiting is no Jesus's mother and I heard the whole story of how it all came about in an hour Angel appeared to her and told her about the person and how they did the holy spirit head head provided the other part of Jesus to so that Jesus was Park. Merry Heart Holy Spirit in and he was really fully God and fully human all that stuff. I

If you're all all of that night, I know you're going to remember that again. This this season. I hope you keep that in mind. But but it was it was all about sending him here and I need to just talk about that over and over and over again. But what would I wasn't quite prepared for and I I kind of got that idea from the Old Testament scriptures. I knew I knew that God would send the Messiah didn't fully know that it was going to be yourself coming of the Messiah. That was kind of new to me, but I got eventually we all caught on to that once the Holy Spirit came on us and all that. But what I didn't really anticipate was the Jesus was going to turn around and send us.

I wasn't ready for that CI. I thought the whole idea was that he was going to come going to send him to us. And then he was going to go to rescue us. He was going to bring us along with him and we are going to go, you know conquer Roman and be a nice Kingdom that I had dogs rule over the whole earth and all of that. I really wasn't thinking that in that whole line of events the jeans would turn around and say you go do what I'm supposed to do.

But there came a point that that's exactly what he did the 12 of us, but that he had a sent one a messenger. So I should have been a tip out that I was going to do something but he was 12 of us together up little Rd nickname for my name, but I really fun to watch when I call him that but anyway.

And he says okay, you're going to go do what I've been doing. You're going to heal the sick. You're going to drive out demons your headlights look like wait a second Jesus. You're the Messiah. You're the one who's supposed to be teaching the people. You're the one who's supposed to be dealing with people. You're the one who should be driving up at 8.

But you know what year did mentioned about you know, that every student is fully trained to be like at the master and all of these things and I'm just like well, yes, but he supposed to stay with us, right.

But that's not what you just had in mind though. He he said you were going to go out to the Villages around is real and you are going to to teach the people and do all these. so we're all kind of like okay Jesus if you think that's a good idea go ahead but

But then on top of it on top of it.

Okay, you don't know how this works, you know, when whenever the Pharisee send their disciples out they get to take stuff. They know that they usually have plenty of money and food and all of that if they're going to go and teach people even though those weird Greek philosopher guys that think you shouldn't have anything in the world and then all that day. I mean they even carry it at least to collect money when he pay them but Jesus says, nope, no staff. No bag. No bread no money. Not even a sparrow quotes.

I'm just sitting here, you know, okay, that's that we need to be able to text ourselves. You know what we're pretty young guys. We don't really need it for walking or hiking necessarily. But if somebody comes along you want to have a big stick to be able to wipe them away. Right now we got to be able to talk to yourself. So no, sad. All right. I hopefully will goats safer ways or whatever. So I guess we can't even get anything like that. No bread. You know we can have a snack on the road.

No, no, nothing to eat. You have to completely depend on other people to feed us. And then he says no money. You know what what if we get in a pinch what if there's no one's at the house this, you know, we need to spend the night in an indoor or if we we really need food and we're going we need to buy some bread. No money.

Men's have no extra tunic. I mean what if it's even cold at night and we just just need a little extra clothing to warm ourselves.

Nope, not even that.

Enzyme Anderson good that sings pretty helpless. I don't think we'll make it past one Village. And I looked at that party and night. I just said you're ready for this and then you know, I can tell he was a little nervous to do it. So we fall we we got assigned to go south. We went we went South down towards Jerusalem and and kind of some areas in between Jerusalem and Galilee and just started going downtown to town and I'm sure enough on one of those road. We we run into a robber and who says give me give me all your money or I'm going to hurt you in the club or something and then the first little bit of wisdom from Jesus.

We don't have any. But we don't have any money to give you any money. So we don't have any for you Robert. Sorry. You can meet us there if you want, but we don't have any money.

Nnn Barney says well, you know could could we pray for you instead? And the Roberts kind of looked at us like what? I think he was just so taken aback. He said he just said sure and so we prayed with them and and we any look of

Relief came over his face and just so you know, I've only been doing this because I've got to provide for my family and I just felt so hopeless and hear you guys are and then, you know, it didn't give me any money or anything, but but you giving me hope again. And and we just walked away from him. Something to this Jesus not letting us take anything along.

And and so we know we keep going in one one of the Town sure enough. There's their situation where somebody is offering US money and they you know that they say, oh, I just love your teaching and we we really want to support you on your way. And then we say what we ready. Do you know anyone else in town? That might need it might need something him and sure enough, just as we were talking here comes a bigger. Who's the who just looking for that day's bread and we said well why don't you give your money to him looks like you could use it and all this person gave the money to the back or in the back or just lit up like

anyway What up, like a Hanukkah?

Menorah there we go. Was that was that was a little rough. Sorry there broke broke the fourth wall a little bit. And and it just goes on his on his way saying I can I can feed my family today. in this week how you know if we had a bag of me you just pocket of that money. Think I might not have gotten food for his family. And then we kept going and we went to another Village in.

And sure enough there is there's a family that that took a stand and they were very generous to us and they wanted to give us bread to to go along on the journey. And we said, you know, we're not supposed to eat. We can't take your bread but your neighbors over and we we we have this extra bread with them. And and and have that that'll be our last meal here and then we'll will move on to the next Village and they had a big fight and they were not on speaking terms and haven't been for a few years and so but because they want to be hospitable to us. They invite the neighbors over. It was amazing because during that conversation as we are sharing with the neighbors about Jesus and his ministry and him being the Messiah and all of this. all of a sudden

The name of the people are staying away from their neighbors. They started talking about their differences in and as we talked to them about forgiveness and repentance like Jesus Jesus teaches they begin to admit. The wrong against each other and their forgive each other. Over that last loaf of bread.

Realize that we just taking that red and run. Who knows. Those neighbors that would have ever reconcile.

then I'll never forget the night we We really needed those extra few minutes. We are out on the road or in between villages. We hadn't got the next place yet and and was cold cold that night. We we we could have really used that extra tunic. And Along Comes, of course a traveler he's got to do he have a nice Cherry than everything and he says Hey and and we could not really supposed to take one though, but I really could use something. And he said well, I'll give you stop for the night too. And I'll just let you use one of my extra ones overnights and and you know that that opportunity even though we couldn't keep the code. We stayed with that guy and and it and we were able to share about Jesus with him and and come to find out that even though he was this high up and in society in your pretty well seeing all of this. He had just been living with this guilt over something you done in this past. We are at the tell him about how Jesus it told us. You know, that the father can forgive all of our sins and that's why I that's why he sent the Messiah.

To relieve that guilt net Shane. A man. Yeah, we only got that that extra tunic for one night, but couldn't ask to see that man completely transformed the next day. Going on his way with a smile on his face and and just telling everyone he met on the road. about Jesus

What are you done for him? It's amazing to see how each piece along the way. Served its purpose.

No. The ascent us out again later on with with more more to have and you know.

If we're following Jesus for telling others about him, he's going to provide each and every need we have. Did every single town we went to there wasn't a single one. We had to do the whole shaking of the dust off our feet under off of any of the other guys did but we didn't at least one family, but said You know, we don't fully understand what you're talking about.

We're going to show you love we're going to take care of your needs. We're going to provide food for you and I provide a place for you to stay. It was amazing to see what we talked about that peace resting. Every single time I was just like because we came in the name of Jesus. There's just a piece over the householders. There's a Stillness a columnist.

And some of the households that crazy kids running around in all this but there's something different because we're coming in the name of Jesus. and foremost the town we went to that family we stayed with

They believed and then they started telling their friends and their neighbors and their families. And by the time we went back later was Jesus half the town. Pepper and came out to hear Jesus himself speak.

Amazing watch it spreads from one little family. To the whole town. But it wouldn't have happened if we had decided to do it our own way with our own resources on our own power.

Instead of All About Us trusting God if we're obeying him for obeying Jesus and we're sharing his good news. He's going to provide each step away.

So I hope if Jesus is sending you today, which I think he is. He send all of those who claim to follow him. He sent them out. I hope will trust.

But he will provide each step of the way over by the words. You need the materials. You need the food the clothing the people he's going to provide. It may not be in the way you expect man Guardian me goodness. It was it was just completely different every single time

but he will provide so go share the good news. And no, but Jesus is right there with you. Even if he's not physically next. Thanks for letting me share.

He he got to see firsthand how Jesus sends us out send us into the world without anything of her own power our own ability to share your good but rather fully dependent on you. So we pray father as you send us from this place today that you will also. Provide Arnie's each step of the way, and then we will be obedient to your call to share your good news. Everyone we encounter. We thank you Lord that you've gone have us and do you are with us?

Slept the invitation as if you've never accepted Christ as your personal Lord and Savior we invite you to do that here today. But also if you need to recommit yourself to him into sharing his good news in and being sent by him. We invite you to do that as well and recommit your life that if you need people to do it with, you know, Jesus didn't send his disciples out one by one is not come out two by two. And if you need people to come alongside you in in partner with you and sharing the gospel. That's what the that's really what Cheese's left. The church on Earth to do is to share the gospel with the world. So if you need a church home invite you to join ours. We also invite you into to apply what you heard from Philip. What whatever that might look like in your life. Maybe you need to find a partner to share the gospel with maybe you just need to to get your trust in God built up to delete some things behind so that you can more fully share and have more opportunities to share.
