Following Jesus

Matthew 8:18–27 KJV 1900
18 Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side. 19 And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. 20 And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. 21 And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. 22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead. 23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. 24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. 25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. 26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. 27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

1 Kings 19:9–11 KJV 1900
9 And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah? 10 And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away. 11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake:

People will
talk about the mountain
admire the mountain
How treacherous it is
Applaud those that climb the mountain
Few will actually go up the mountain

Only those close to him would go to the mountain

Matthew 5:1 KJV 1900

Jesus was on assignment
A leper was healed
Centurrian servant healed

Man possessed with devil delivered
Matthew 8:18 KJV 1900
18 Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.

Transformation happens on the mountain
Relationship is built on the mountain
Revelation comes on the mountain
It is time to go higher
The mountain is a connecting point
Most people are happy with indirect connections
Exodus 18:13 KJV 1900
13 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening.
Exodus 20:18–19 KJV 1900

After they prepared

Calm
Following Jesus will
++Build upon Relationship
++Rely on Revelation
++Require Faith
Matthew 8:26 KJV 1900
26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
Faith will not be built
++Waiting on his return
++Waiting to see him act
++Watching a man on a mission
Faith is built
by coming up to the mountain of God
If you don’t go don’t hinder me
If you don’t pray
Luke 18:8 KJV 1900
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
Hebrews 11:6 KJV 1900

Ephesians 2:8 KJV 1900
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Romans 10:17 KJV 1900
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:14–15 KJV 1900
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Matthew 8:27 KJV 1900
27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!
