Spiritual Exercise

Ephesians 6:10–12 KJV 1900
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
To Fight the spiritual battle we need to exercise!
Hebrews 12:1 KJV 1900
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Run The race
To run the race we need to keep ourselves fit!
many people fail in the spiritual warfare because they do not exercise.
Hebrews 12:1 KJV 1900
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Run with patience and endurance
The Christian Life is full of activity and vigor
To exercise means:

I Don’t Quit (hold on to what you Have)

Ephesians 6:14 KJV 1900
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
1st there is no hope in this world
We should always be looking forward
Hebrews 6:11 KJV 1900
11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
The Christian message is not one that praises the past but is concerned about the future.
If you are looking to this world you will be miserable
Part of the Christian exercise is to lay hold of the world to come.
Hebrews 6:18 KJV 1900
18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
Hebrews 5:11–14 KJV 1900
11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. 12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
You Christians are unhappy and miserable because you have not been exercising.
Flabby’
No strength
Tired
I have strong meat to give you - you cant just live on Milk.
What a rebuke!
Do you give others hope?
Strong meat belongs to them that are mature. (Full age)
They can not discern good and evil.
The most unhappy and discouraged Christians are those that do not exercise their senses with the Word of God.
We are too busy to read the Word of God!
We are not exercising our senses.
Forefathers
wrote commentaries
studied the Word of God!

II Public Exercise

Hebrews 10:24–25 KJV 1900
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
heb 10.
One of the greatest things you can do for you family is Be faithful to church.
Come to church only when you have a need
Special occasions
The Hebrew Christians were failing because they were not exercising together.
accountability
fellowship with the saints
Service to each other
Church attendance is not about you
How many joyful, content Christians attend church in frequently?

III Past Examples

Hebrews 11:32–39 KJV 1900
32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: 33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, 34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. 35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: 36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: 37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; 38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. 39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
heb 11:32-
Look at the world they lived in?
Evil days?
They triumphed - they were able to stand
having done all to stand

Hebrews 5:14 KJV 1900
14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

IV See Joy that is Set Before Us

Hebrews 12:2–3 KJV 1900
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
We can not change circumstances but we can triumph in them!
WE must become imitators of Christ
We must look beyond men
To the Son of God!
Look people
The world is looking for you to teach and instruct how to live triumphantly!

What am I asking ?

Exercise and grow-up !
