This Is Your Church
Jesus has a question for our world today!
Who do you say that I AM?
Some will say, a prophet, a teacher, the Son of God, the Great I AM.
Others may say, a mere man, a myth, a a legend, a tale, a figment of the imagination.
Some may identify Him with Mohammad, Buddha, or some other God of a religious movement.
In this setting Jesus is asking the question of His disciples.
He cares more who His church says He is, than he cares who the world says He is.
Luke says in :
When Jesus comes, will He find faith on earth?
Jesus looks for a body of believers who know Him!
Now is not a good time to have an identity crisis of who He is!
You will here this next verse several times between now and Christmas.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
He is the Alpha and Omega
The beginning and the end.
The first and the last.
He is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah.
The Way.
The Truth.
The Light.
He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
The one who was, who is, and who is to come.
The Great I AM.
Jesus Christ Our Lord.
But, who do you say He is?
Jesus wants you to make the relationship personal:
My God and my Savior.
My Healer.
Redeemer.
Miracle Worker.
My way when there is no way.
He is my Peace in the storm.
My confidence in adversity.
He is my Guide, my Shield, my caravan.
He goes with me wherever I go.
He is at my right hand, that I shall not be moved.
I showed up today at church because, Jesus is here!
It feels good to be in church today!
It was not hard to get here.
We didn’t come up with an excuse why we couldn’t make it.
We didn’t come sorrowful or mad.
We came to worship the King of Glory.
There was no doubt in our minds,
If we show up, Jesus will meet us there!
Do you have a need?
Jesus is here.
Are you looking for another way?
He is the way maker.
Are you running from your past?
Jesus is your future.
Whatever your circumstance or situation Jesus is your celebration.
