Read vs. 14-21

Guarding Against Unbelief

Paul was Praying for Seemingly Impossible Things vs. 19
We miss Out On God's Fullness because too often we sour in unbelief.
The Example of Abraham
Romans 4:10–12 ESV
How then was it counted to him? Was it before or after he had been circumcised? It was not after, but before he was circumcised. He received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. The purpose was to make him the father of all who believe without being circumcised, so that righteousness would be counted to them as well, and to make him the father of the circumcised who are not merely circumcised but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised.
Romans 4:18–21 ESV
In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told, “So shall your offspring be.” He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.
Romans 4:18-
When you think about overcoming sin? Do you give up in hopelessness?
Do you experience the love of God? What Paul prays?

How We Do That

Focusing on the Greatness of God's Power vs. 20

-The Cure for Unbelief is to focus on the greatness of God
God is of infinite power
1 Chronicles 16:28–29 ESV
Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength! Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him! Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;
-Our salvation, a display of his power vs. 20b
Earlier vs. 1:19-20; chapter 2

Praying In Faith

You can pray in faith if you have focused on the Greatness of God.
James 1:5–6 ESV
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
James 1:
Mark 11:23–24 ESV
Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
1 John 5:14 ESV
And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.
If we align our hearts, to desire the things that God wants, and not out of our lusts. We have confidence in our prayers.
James 4:2–3 ESV
You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.
James 4:2-
So Ask for big things!
Pray for that lost family member.
God, magnify your glory and show yourself mighty in saving that person who doesn’t even desire you. God, you are worthy of honor and renown, you name is blasphemed among men, they think you weak, show how mighty you are.
Pray for your own soul?
God this sin seems big it has a hold of me, but you have conquered all sin through your victorious death. You are mighty to save. Don’t let your name be profaned and my heart hardened, keep what you have started. Save me from me.
Pray for your salvation.
God you said you delight in saving sinners, I am a sinner, and I know I cannot save myself. You God are my hope, you can save a sinner like me, it’s impossible for me, but it’s not impossible for you.
Pray for this Church.
God, this Church is your work. We want your name to be great here. Show yourself mighty by saving men and growing this Church for your glory. Don’t let your name be profaned, build and protect this Church. So that it might glorify you!

Praising God

Learn to praise God for what he says is true!

Great God of wonders, all Thy ways

Are matchless, godlike and divine;

But the fair glories of Thy grace

More godlike and unrivalled shine.

O may this strange, this matchless grace,

This godlike miracle of love,

Fill the wide earth with grateful praise,

And all the angelic hosts above:

Who is a pardoning God like Thee?

Or who has grace so rich and free?

Praising God For His Church

The Church is a Means that God has ordained for His glory and our good.
Ephesians 3:10 ESV
so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.
The Prayer for God's Church to be Full of His Glory, to give him credit.
Prophesied
Ezekiel 43:1–5 ESV
Then he led me to the gate, the gate facing east. And behold, the glory of the God of Israel was coming from the east. And the sound of his coming was like the sound of many waters, and the earth shone with his glory. And the vision I saw was just like the vision that I had seen when he came to destroy the city, and just like the vision that I had seen by the Chebar canal. And I fell on my face. As the glory of the Lord entered the temple by the gate facing east, the Spirit lifted me up and brought me into the inner court; and behold, the glory of the Lord filled the temple.
Zechariah 2:10–11 ESV
Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, for behold, I come and I will dwell in your midst, declares the Lord. And many nations shall join themselves to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people. And I will dwell in your midst, and you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you.
Kept Till Eternity vs. 21b
Revelation 21:1–4 ESV
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
