The conclusion of verses 17-23 is in verse 24 “For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you.”
What a horrible verdict this is.
How does this happen?
How do God’s people end up dishonouring God’s name in the world?
1 Masters of the Law
They are called Jews
They rest in the Law
They boast in God
They know the will of God
They know their Bible
They Are Masters and Teachers
2 A Form of Knowledge
This is the key verse to getting this passage.
They have knowledge of a sort, it’s a form of knowledge and truth.
But they missed the point.
They find themselves condemned by the Law because they did not find Christ in the Law.
They had a form of knowledge, they studies and searched the Law and trusted that they had found eternal life in the Law.
But aside from faith in Jesus Christ there is no eternal life.
Rather than seeing from the Law that they are sinners they found that they could convince themselves that they could keep the Law and therefore have no need for a saviour.
Yet the feast days and the and the sacrifices even the Sabbath, they all point to Christ who is our sacrifice and our rest.
