We Believe That Jesus Is the Messiah (5:1)

Whoever believes that Jesus a person - No doctrine, not opinion, nor a formula, Whoever believes that is Jesus is the Christ.
Do I believe Jesus to be the one sole, and only propitiation Priest and accept Him to act as Priest for me.
Do I believe as a loyal subject, desire to see His kingdom come and His will done on earth as it is in Heaven.
We Have Been Born of God 5:1,4
1. New birth is the evidence of being born again-Birthmark.
2. Witness of this new birth is Confessing that Jesus is the Messiah and second, by loving Father God and His children, third by continually overcoming the world.
3. Being born again is not an option it is a necessity that you believe you have been born again or born from above
, third by continually overcoming the world.
John 3:3 ESV
Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
John 3:7 ESV
Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’
1 Peter 1:23 ESV
since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;
4. This whole process of being born again is not something I just believe but something that changes my whole life and purpose of being.
5. Jesus did not come to die on the bloody cross to make us kinder and nicer persons. He came to dramatically, personally, radically, and eternally transform us and make us new people.
Romans 12:1 ESV
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
,
Romans 12:2 ESV
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:
Romans 12:1–2 ESV
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
WE LOVE THE FATHER AND HIS FAMILY
Doctrinal excellence, a bold faith, evangelistic fervor and a generous hand are all good thing. BUT God is not looking only for those things. He is looking for your love for Him. If you are reading the book of 1 John you will find the word love - God’s Love, mentioned more than 30 times and in the first three verses of 5 it is found 3 time.
God is not looking for who you are! God is not looking for a good person. There are a lot of good people, God want you to love Him! Why? because it is not about ME or You. It is about your relationship with God and His family.
1 John 4
1 John 4:10 ESV
In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1 John 5:2 ESV
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments.
This is the most important part of this message “Birthmark” is not about you it is about God. This is all based on Jesus teaching in the Gospels.
Matt 2:36-49
John 3:16 ESV
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Matthew 22:1 ESV
And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying,
Matthew 22:36–40 ESV
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
Matt
What is this saying to you :
Matt
Love God - surrendering all that you are all that you have to God.
Love your neighbor- he knows that it is hard to love your neighbor that's why you let God love them through you.
Jesus wants to help us have the Birthmark of Jesus which is only found in Christ alone.
I do not want to love everyone
I do not feel like it or want too- people are some of the hardest ones to love because they are not thinking like me!
Mark 8:
Mark 8:36 ESV
For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?
WE OBEY HIS COMMANDS
1 John 2:4 ESV
Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him,
1 john
1 John 3:22–24 ESV
and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him. And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.
John Piper “M heart desires to love and obey my Lord. What he is saying that it is not a burden when I’m doing for the Lord and not myself. Why because God rewards our love for Him and love of our neighbor.
Why Obey! Because God commands it.
Because God loves everyone even those we hate He loves
This is God - He created you and me to love
John says to the church when you learn to love as God loves you will see the reward and peace that comes from God.
Look what God say’s in the Paslms
Psalm 1:1–2 ESV
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.
Ps 37:
Psalm 37:4 ESV
Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 119:16 ESV
I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.
Jerry Bridges says it quite well: “ Love provides the motive for obeying the commands of the law but the law provides specific direction for exercising love.”
Love is not an external even or feeling it is a heart that is full of gratitude for what God has done for me that I want it for the worse sinner the ugliest person and the vilest offender of the law.
I want to love and obey this King! King Jesus 100% of the time.
No I do not feel like it I do not want to do it on my own, But God will if I surrender to Him.
WE HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD
1 John 2:16–17 ESV
For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
1 John 2:16-17
What does John say here in
1 John 5:5 ESV
Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
1Jp
Mark 4:15 ESV
And these are the ones along the path, where the word is sown: when they hear, Satan immediately comes and takes away the word that is sown in them.
The sower if we follow the world What happens.
Mark 4:19 ESV
but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.
WE BELIEVE JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD
John 3:36 ESV
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
Ye call Me Master and obey Me not, Ye call Me Light and see Me not, Ye call Me Way and walk Me not, Ye call Me Life and desire Me not, Ye call Me Wise and follow Me not, Ye call Me Fair and love Me not, Ye call Me Rich and ask Me not, Ye call Me Eternal and seek Me not, Ye call Me Gracious and trust Me not, Ye call Me Noble and serve Me not, Ye call Me Mighty and honor Me not, Ye call Me Just and fear Me not, If I condemn you, blame Me not.
