Habakkuk - Discontented with Justice

How Long? (When will this end?)
Why do you idly look at wrong (1:3)
"The Law is paralyzed and justice never goes forth." (1:4)
You who are of purer eyes than to see evil and cannot look at wrong. Why do you idly look....and remain silent when the wicked swallow up the traitor (1:13)
"If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay." (2:3)
"For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea." (2:14)
Who is the maker, the teacher????
How is a maker of idols a teacher of lies? The maker of the idol must make up what his idol can do so that others will know how to worship.
What does God mean when he says to "let all the earth keep silence before him?" (2:20)
The Lord is in his holy temple.
So let those who waiting keep silence before him.
Should you not ask how long?
What is the profit of an idol? It deceptively sets your heart at ease.
What is the profit of coming to the living God. He is in his holy temple. He does see everything ()
Wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.
It does not mean it will happen immediately. In the fullness of time.
"In wrath remember mercy." (3:2)
"He stood and measured the earth, and he looked and shook the nations." (3:6)
What does it mean to wait quietly for the day of trouble to come upon people who invade us? To trust that the Lord and his timing are good. To wait quietly does not mean that God will deliver you from suffering or trouble (3:17). But it does mean that if you teach your soul to rest in Christ, you won't need these things to rejoice. You can still rejoice in suffering. When your joy is in the Lord instead of your circumstances, that is when you can rejoice. To put it another way, you are not anxious and your heart is at peace because you are trusting in God and his Sovereign goodness. What does it mean for you to take joy in the God of your salvation? Is your strength a what? Or a who? (3:19, cf. 1:11)
Are your feet like the deer's? Do they stumble on the narrow, steep, and difficult path? What makes man stumble and fall. Why do we fail? It's because we lack trust in God.
(3:16)
Discontented with Justice
Not in your time
Might not alleviate exactly what you ask for
God's mind is much larger.
God's answers will not always come in the way you expected it to.
But it is still an answer from God, and its good. And when that sinks in, it can redefine what it means to rejoice in the Lord.
