Blended Family

Jesus comes from a Blended Family. A blended family is typically when one or both individuals enter into relationship already have a child from a previous relationship. Or in simple terms, having a child prior to being married. The scripture from the responsive reading said that Joseph was thought to be Jesus father because as we know, Mary conceived without a man. But, still Joseph raised Jesus, protected Jesus, he took Jesus to school, taught him the family carpentry business, He made sure he had food to eat. He treated Jesus like his own child as we see in Luke ch.2 when Jesus was missing both Mary and Joseph went looking for Jesus. And this is what many of our families look like. But, This Is Us.
Reflects the Grace and Goodness of God.

Extended Family

Jesus also comes from Extended Family. The extended family are those who live outside of your nuclear family. As adults the extended family includes siblings, but always included cousins. The people you’re gonna see this Thanksgiving is mostly your extended family.
They were concerned about Jesus.
God has a history of using families: Abraham and Lot. Moses, Aaron, and Miriam. Peter and Andrew. Philip had for daughters who did prophesy. Timothy, Eunice, and Lois. And most of all Jesus had a brother who Pastored the church in Jerusalem, named James and he and his brother Jude wrote books in the bible. The Wesley family are famous for starting the Methodist Church. Even Dr. King had a father, mother, brother, and sister who all were active in the civil rights movement. God has always used entire families who would make themselves available to him.
Sometimes extended families can hurt you, but we have to be like Jess and be ready to forgive even our family members who should know better.

Church Family

Church family. Who are my mother and my brothers?
When informed that his biological family was looking for him he elevates those sitting with him over those. Behold.
