Best Deal Ever

Hi. I’m Natalie. I’m on the team here at VC.
Black Friday is officially over, tomorrow we have cyber Monday, (which is basically every day this week!)
How many of you are DEAL CATCHERS?! You know who you are!
Clipping the coupons for weeks
REfuse to buy anything full price
Search for DAYS just to get TV $10 cheaper
You stop at nothing to get THE BEST DEAL.
The BEST DEALS require a little bit of DESPERATION
The BEST DEALS require a little bit of DESPERATION
What do I mean by that?
You gotta get up EARLY
WAIT in the LINES
Just in case you needed a little proof for my point, check out some of my favorite Black Friday pics.

Maybe some of you had to do a little tackling jut to get into church, haha!
His strategy is to always negotiate SO LOW that when he goes back to sell the item in a few years, he’ll still make more than he bought it for.
Today we are going to talk about some major deal catchers in the Bible and how their lives are not so different from yours and mine.
Terrible negotiator
Don’t like to try and low-ball someone; I always just think… oh, they need the money! They have to survive! Maybe they feeding kids!
I begin to negotiate myself OUT of trying to get the deal, but just to not push any buttons. Just take what you can get.
Today we are going to talk about some major deal catchers in the Bible and how their lives are not so different from yours and mine.
John 3:30
John 3:30 NLT
He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.
DAVID
The youngest, most seemingly unqualified brother.
David gave over his sin… his garbage
was eventually called a man after God’s own heart
Psalm 51 NLT
For the choir director: A psalm of David, regarding the time Nathan the prophet came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba. Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin. For I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night. Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just. For I was born a sinner— yes, from the moment my mother conceived me. But you desire honesty from the womb, teaching me wisdom even there. Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Oh, give me back my joy again; you have broken me— now let me rejoice. Don’t keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you. Then I will teach your ways to rebels, and they will return to you. Forgive me for shedding blood, O God who saves; then I will joyfully sing of your forgiveness. Unseal my lips, O Lord, that my mouth may praise you. You do not desire a sacrifice, or I would offer one. You do not want a burnt offering. The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God. Look with favor on Zion and help her; rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Then you will be pleased with sacrifices offered in the right spirit— with burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings. Then bulls will again be sacrificed on your altar.
Psalm 51
John 3:30 NLT
He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.
2 Corinthians 12:9–19 NLT
Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong. You have made me act like a fool. You ought to be writing commendations for me, for I am not at all inferior to these “super apostles,” even though I am nothing at all. When I was with you, I certainly gave you proof that I am an apostle. For I patiently did many signs and wonders and miracles among you. The only thing I failed to do, which I do in the other churches, was to become a financial burden to you. Please forgive me for this wrong! Now I am coming to you for the third time, and I will not be a burden to you. I don’t want what you have—I want you. After all, children don’t provide for their parents. Rather, parents provide for their children. I will gladly spend myself and all I have for you, even though it seems that the more I love you, the less you love me. Some of you admit I was not a burden to you. But others still think I was sneaky and took advantage of you by trickery. But how? Did any of the men I sent to you take advantage of you? When I urged Titus to visit you and sent our other brother with him, did Titus take advantage of you? No! For we have the same spirit and walk in each other’s steps, doing things the same way. Perhaps you think we’re saying these things just to defend ourselves. No, we tell you this as Christ’s servants, and with God as our witness. Everything we do, dear friends, is to strengthen you.
“My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 10 That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Psalm 51:16–17 NLT
You do not desire a sacrifice, or I would offer one. You do not want a burnt offering. The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.
Psalm 51:
It’s not about good works, it’s about the posture of your heart.
You can’t do good or be good enough; you must have a heart that ‘s willing to surrender.
PAUL
This guy was a religious “elite”
He was responsible for spreading the gospel in more than one way...
Present at the murder of Steven, who was a catalyst for the disciples fleeing out to Judea and Samaria.
Until he encountered God on the road to Damascus, he was a passionate MURDERER of Christians.
Sometimes when we get caught up in religious “actions” we can completely miss the heart of God
He doesn’t want your good works, your status, your title… He wants your heart.
It was when he finally SURRENDERED that God was able to use him in miraculous ways.
John 3:30 NLT
He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.

JOHN THE BAPTIST
Up until Jesus, he was considered one of the greatest prophets.
He could have
John 3:30 NLT
He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.
Psalm 139:23–24 NLT
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
psalm 139
