All Things Jesus!

The sum of all things, it is more than a book, more than a movie, it is a reality. That reality is Jesus Christ. In this life we need to turn to the Truth that we find in the Book that leads us to the book of life. The Book is the Bible and the Bible is sum of all things true (Psm119:160). In this life we face many things but the answer to all things in Jesus Christ. That is what this series is all about, All Things Jesus!
Psalm 119:160 NASB95
160 The sum of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous ordinances is everlasting.
I had to bring in that scripture because the sum of all things is found in the Bible and I mentioned that, so there you have the scripture to go with it.
Let me ask a few simple, but complex questions to get us started.
Do you ever wonder why God allows things to happen?
Do you ever feel despair, or discouraged even as a Christian?
Do you ever suffer problems and wonder why, and what is God’s purpose and God’s direction in it?
Life in this world is hard, it is confusing, without a doubt it is challenging and it is demanding. Having any of the feelings, or questions I just showed you are not out of the ordinary. Having faith does not mean you do not have questions, you won’t suffer, nor that you won’t feel. For in reality:
___________________________________
In this life you will have tribulation (Jn16:33)
You will feel discouraged, maybe even in despair at times (Job14:1-2)
You may not understand, if you understood everything you would not need faith would you? We just need to trust the way (Jn14:6; Col1:13-16)
__________________________________
You are not alone in your feelings
The prophets of old felt like this (Job14:1-2)
Job 14:1–2 NASB95
1 “Man, who is born of woman, Is short-lived and full of turmoil. 2 “Like a flower he comes forth and withers. He also flees like a shadow and does not remain.
Life is short, life is full of turmoil, it withers away. Now that does not sound very good does it?
To the Christian we have a better way, a true hope, and that hope is Jesus
John 14:6 NASB95
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
Jesus is the Way; He is the sum of all things. This is going to be a fun, informative, reminding series I hope that you enjoy it, i hope you are challenged and encouraged along the way.
May we always remember this truth.
Colossians 1:13–14 NASB95
13 For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 1:15–16 NASB95
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.
So when I say “all things Jesus” I mean God tells us that Jesus is the sum of all things. God through His Word and since we are simply Christian’s studying God’s Word we will see the sum of all things all throughout this series in His Word. For Jesus is the Way

Jesus: The Way to Better Life

Jesus had a purpose for His life. Jesus came to save and to give gifts in accordance to the riches of His glory. A better life does not have to do with things it has to do with HIM! Jesus is the Way.

Jesus stated purpose (Lk19:10; Jn10:10)
Luke 19:10 NASB95
10 “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
To seek and save the lost
He also tells us to give to us.
John 10:10 NASB95
10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
Satan comes to steal, Jesus came to give, life and life more full, or abundantly in our version here.
Jesus stated purpose (Lk19:10; Jn10:10)
Jesus states prophesy fulfilled (Lk4:21; Lk4:18-19)
Luke 4:21 NASB95
21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”
And in case you are wondering what prophesy, here it is.
Luke 4:18–19 NASB95
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set free those who are oppressed, 19 To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”
Jesus stated purpose (Lk19:10; Jn10:10)
Jesus states prophesy fulfilled (Lk4:18-19)
Jesus words of instruction (MK:31-33)
The abundant life, the full life, does not mean “health, wealth and prosperity” kind of life. What it does mean, what it does promise is life in which we are reconciled with the loving Father in heaven who knows all our needs.
Matthew 6:31–32 NASB95
31 “Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ 32 “For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
And because He knows all our needs; Jesus tells us what we are to do.
Matthew 6:33 NASB95
33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Jesus stated purpose (Lk19:10; Jn10:10)
Jesus states prophesy fulfilled (Lk4:18-19)
Jesus words of instruction (MK:31-33)
Jesus words of comfort (Php4:19)
He knows our needs, meets our needs for He is a good God and a rich God and His riches are in Christ Jesus. He then can give us the assurance the comfort we need.
Philippians 4:19 NASB95
19 And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

This BETTER life, this FULL LIFE, where HE MEETS OUR NEEDS, it is for those who are fully committed to Him
Be fully committed (Mk10:29-30)
For He was fully committed to you (Rom5:8; Heb12:2-3)
In being committed learn to be content (Php4:11-13)
And even rejoice in your suffering (Jam1:3; 1Pt1:6-8)

This BETTER life, this FULL LIFE, where HE MEETS OUR NEEDS, it is for those who are fully committed to Him
Be fully committed (Mk10:29-30)
Mark 10:29–30 NASB95
29 Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the gospel’s sake, 30 but that he will receive a hundred times as much now in the present age, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms, along with persecutions; and in the age to come, eternal life.
This BETTER life, this FULL LIFE, where HE MEETS OUR NEEDS, it is for those who are fully committed to Him
Be fully committed (Mk10:29-30)
For He was fully committed to you (Rom5:8; Heb12:2-3)
He was fully committed to you when He went to the cross. He wants you to be fully committed to Him, to count the cost. So, consider today are you fully committed to Him, does your life, do your words, your actions show, speak of your commitment to Him?
Let me give you a couple of scriptures showing His commitment to you.
Romans 5:8 NASB95
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
And then there is this shameful one
Hebrews 12:2–3 NASB95
2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
In all times may we learn to be content.
Philippians 4:11–12 NASB95
11 Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. 12 I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need.
Philippians 4:13 NASB95
13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
And even rejoice in your suffering (Jam1:2-3; 1Pt1:6-8)
Now, just prior to AD70 the church had been disbursed, scattered and they were suffering and being persecuted. Both James and Peter speak rejoicing even in the suffering.
James 1:2–3 NASB95
2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
look at what Peter expounded
1 Peter 1:6–7 NASB95
6 In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, 7 so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
1 Peter 1:8 NASB95
8 and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
Rejoicing in suffering, in trials in the testing of our faith; well we can do that when we know that Jesus is the Way, the Way to God!

Jesus: The Way to God (the Father)

Many may say they are Christians and that there are many ways to come to God, but that is contrary to what the Word; Jesus Himself says.
___________________________________________________
Jesus is the way to the Father (Jn14:6; Act4:12)
Jesus is the way to take care of the sin problem and to reconcile us (Isa59:2; 2Cor5:18-20)
Jesus is the way, the prayer warrior (Jn17:1-5)
Jesus is the way out of confusion (1Cor14:33)
_____________________________________________________
Jesus is the way to the Father (Jn14:6; Act4:12)
We already looked at Jn14:6 and we know Jesus by His own words tells us He is the way, But look what Luke expounds
Acts 4:12 The Message
12 Salvation comes no other way; no other name has been or will be given to us by which we can be saved, only this one.”
Jesus is the way to the Father (Jn14:6; Act4:12)
Jesus is the way to take care of the sin problem and to reconcile us (Isa59:2; 2Cor5:18-20)
Jesus purpose was to reconcile sinful man to holy God, for our sins had separated us from Him
Isaiah 59:2 NASB95
2 But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.
When God would need hear us, Jesus did; Jesus spoke up on our behalf and gave the ministry of reconciliation to the few (the apostles) to share with the masses (the world)
2 Corinthians 5:18–19 NASB95
18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:20 NASB95
20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
Mark Copeland says it like this.
“One does not truly experience what it means to have eternal life without having an intimate relationship with the Father, as well as with the Son.”
Jesus is the way to the Father (Jn14:6; Act4:12)
Jesus is the way to take care of the sin problem and to reconcile us (Isa59:2; 2Cor5:18-20)
Jesus is the way, the prayer warrior (Jn17:1-5)
Look at a part of the prayer Jesus offers up for the Apostles who were to know, understand and then tell us the sum of all things Jesus.
John 17:1–2 NASB95
1 Jesus spoke these things; and lifting up His eyes to heaven, He said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You, 2 even as You gave Him authority over all flesh, that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life.
John 17:3–4 NASB95
3 “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. 4 “I glorified You on the earth, having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do.
John 17:5 NASB95
5 “Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.
and the summary found in the next verse
John 17:6 NASB95
6 “I have manifested Your name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world; they were Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.
You can read on in (vv.7-12) for more of the prayer, but I think you get the jest of it.
So what is this eternal life that Jesus is praying about, it is knowing the Father, the only true God (v.3) and Jesus.
The Way to a BETTER, FULLER, ABUNDANT LIFE, the way to FORGIVENESS of sins and RECONCILIATION to the Father is through the SON; JESUS!
We are not to be confused by religions, for God is not the God of confusion
1 Corinthians 14:33 NASB95
33 for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
Let’s us go on and talk a little more about that.

Jesus: The Way Out of Confusion

Religion can be confusing, but God is not. Religions can be conflicting, but God is not the God of conflict but of peace. There are many man made churches but only one church that Jesus built and is head over. Jesus is the way out of confusion.
Many have been confused by all the different made made religions who claim they are “the true church.” There are different doctrines (teachings); conflicting doctrines, but that is not God’s way. For God is bot the God of confusion , we are to be united unified and have all things in common.

Confusion brings division (Mt12:25)
We know a house divided cannot stand; So may we know we must stand united and Jesus brings unity.
Jesus brings the Father and unity (Jn17:20-23)
John 17:20–21 NASB95
20 “I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; 21 that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.
John 17:22–23 NASB95
22 “The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; 23 I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.
Confusion brings division (Mt12:25)
Jesus brings the Father and unity (Jn17:20-23)
Jesus brings the church (Mt16:16-18)
Matthew 16:18 NASB95
18 “I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.
But keeping in context I need to back up
Matthew 16:16–18 NASB95
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 “I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.
Jesus promised to build His church not churches. IT was on the words of Peter that the church was going to be built on, not Peter but His confession that Jesus is the Christ the Son of the Living God.
Satan came to kill, steal and destroy, Jesus came to build His church. and the church prevailed.
Confusion brings division (Mt12:25)
Jesus brings the Father and unity (Jn17:20-23)
Jesus brings the church (Mt16:16-18)
Jesus brings the apostles doctrine (ACt2:47)
Acts 2:47 NASB95
47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.
In His church, the church Jesus built, that Peter proclaimed, that Luke stated and Paul expounds on, that church we have unity.
Confusion brings division (Mt12:25)
Jesus brings the Father and unity (Jn17:20-23)
Jesus brings the church (Mt16:16-18)
Jesus brings the apostles doctrine (ACt2:47)
Jesus brings the unity of the Spirit (Eph4:4-6)
Ephesians 4:4–6 NASB95
4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.
We have the solution to religious confusion when we point to Jesus. For He is the sum of all things.
