The Gospel of Jesus, Trusting Jesus to do the Impossible
Few situations in life seem more imposing than long term incurable debilitating illness.
That is other than illness when death seem imminent and then death.
In all of those situations circumstances seem overwhelming and impossible to resolve.
Impossible for us but not for Jesus.
Introduction:
- Mission Impossible "Your mission Dan/Jim, should you decide to accept it" or words to that effect, with a brief explanation of the mission.
The listener is reminded, "As always, should you or any of your I.M. Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions."
This message will self district in 5 seconds
- Mission Commander Swanbeck (during a briefing in Seville, Spain) “Mr Hunt, this isn’t mission difficult, it’s mission impossible.
“Difficult” should be a walk in the park for you.”
Most of what Jesus did would have been deemed impossible, but among the needs and pleas for help recorded by Mark, theses two pleas would have seemed IMPOSSIBLE, even for the Son of God/the Son of the Most High God.
1. Mission IMPOSSIBLE #1 (part one) – ,
o My little daughter is a the point of death – 5:23
o My – one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus – 5:22
o Seeing Jesus, fell at his feet – 5:22
o Implored him earnestly – 5:23
§ Come lay your hands on her so that she may be made well and live
2. Mission IMPOSSIBLE #2 –
o Discharge of blood for 12 years – 5:25
o Suffered much – 5:26
§ Under many physicians
§ Spent all that she had
§ No better grew worse
o Reports of Jesus/touch of faith/healed immediately – 5:27-29
o “Who touched my garments?”
o The woman told Jesus the whole truth.
3. Mission IMPOSSIBLE #1 (part two) –
o Your daughter (12 years old) is dead – 5:35, 42
o Do not fear, only believe – 5:35-38
o Why are you ... weeping, the child is not dead but sleeping – 5:39-42
What is our, your, my mission impossible?
- Humbly, earnestly trust Jesus with your deepest heartaches.
- We can trust Jesus with what time and professionals cannot resolve.
- Tell Jesus the whole truth.
- Do not fear, only believe.
- Jesus is more than able to intervene immediately, but sometimes we must wait.
