Isaiah 55:8–11 ESV
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
Deuteronomy 6:4–9 ESV
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

A family of the WORD

Word Based Verse Emotions Based.

Why is this important?

To build your family on emotions leads to an uncertain future.

More specific, a family built on the foundation of emotions will ultimately fail.

Matthew 7:24–27 ESV
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

It is FOOLISH to build your family on the foundation of emotions.

This passage shows the rans fe

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. Do you want a family that will last and stands up against test and trials? Then choose to hold the Word of God at a high place in your family life.

Gods word will never fail. If you build and construct your family life on the Word, your family will NEVER ever fail.

Let’s dig into the text!

For my thoughts are not your thoughts,

neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.

9  For as the heavens are higher than the earth,

so are my ways higher than your ways

and my thoughts than your thoughts.

10  “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven

and do not return there but water the earth,

making it bring forth and sprout,

giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,

11  so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;

it shall not return to me empty,

but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,

and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.” vs. 8

“neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.” vs.8b

God ways are much different than ours.

we may THINK we have solutions, at best it is an experiment, because can’t see ALL the options.

We also lack the ability to SEE into the future.

This puts us at a disadvantage, especially if we are under spiritual attack with an enemy that has seen our “kind before.”

This puts us at a disadvantage, especially if we are under spiritual attack with an enemy that has seen our “kind before”.

So it is in our best interest and the interest of our family if we access God’s knowledge and infinite thoughts.

A better expression is we have access to infinite intelligence when we look to God’s WORD.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,”so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. vs. 9

God compares his thoughts and ways to our thoughts and our ways as the distance between heaven and earth!

so are my ways higher than your ways

In other words, there is NO comparison. So don’t even go there!

and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Job tried to lift himself in the presence of God and got a few questions, to which he could find no answers!

Job 38:1–7 ESV
Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said: “Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me. “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding. Who determined its measurements—surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? On what were its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
38 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:
2    “Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?
      3    Dress for action like a man;
I will question you, and you make it known to me.
4    “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?
Tell me, if you have understanding.
5    Who determined its measurements—surely you know!
Or who stretched the line upon it?
6    On what were its bases sunk,
   or who laid its cornerstone,
7    when the morning stars sang together
and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,” Vs. 10

and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,

The seasons are constant and unfailing. Much more so is the Word of God. You can build your family on it!

giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,

“so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” Vs. 11

Isaiah 55:11 AMP
So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
it shall not return to me empty,
Isaiah 55:11 GNB
So also will be the word that I speak— it will not fail to do what I plan for it; it will do everything I send it to do.
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:11 The Message
So will the words that come out of my mouth not come back empty-handed. They’ll do the work I sent them to do, they’ll complete the assignment I gave them.

If I lay the foundation of the Word in my family, the Word will not fail to accomplish what I planted/seeded into my family life.

What next?

Create an environment for the Word to be heard.

Create an environment for the word to be understood.

Create an environment for the word to be memorized.

Create an environment for the word to be seen in action.

Deuteronomy 6:4–9 ESV
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.
