What do you see when you walk around outside? How often do you stop on to consider where everything comes from and how incredible is its function? The saying goes, “familiarity breeds contempt,” so how do we prevent the loss of the wonder and awe at creation and its creator? It is altogether too easy to forget the power of our creator and therefore neglect to give Him glory and seek Him in our time of need. Join us this Sunday as we consider Elohim, our almighty and all powerful creator.

Elohim

The Name - Elohim = Almighty, All Powerful Creator (vs. 1)
The Context of the Name - Creation = Creation is amazing when you begin to examine all that is around us. It tells us something spectacular. () (Enjoying a Sunset)
Consider:
The Minuteness of Creation (Brain Cells, Eye)
The Magnitude of Creation (Distance, Size)
The Magnificence of Creation (# of Stars, Heart)
The Master of Creation - The Word of God begins with an important statement, “In the beginning God created…” The first introduction of God to us in the Bible is as our Creator!
The Character of the Name - What does and Creation tell us about God?
The Mention - Consider what the text is saying and how it is said in regards to our introduction of Elohim…
Elohim 32 times in 31 verses if you consider personal pronouns it is 43 times
The Polysyndeton - The use of the word “and” almost 100 times
used to slow us down and draw our attention to each phrase or word joined together.
The Measure - He created something from Nothing…only He creates
The word “create” is only used in the Bible when associated with God
With man the word is “make” or “form”God is the only being that was not a creation
The Method - He spoke it…
He did not need to use anything but His voice!
God said and it was…
It was immediate - instantly
It was immaculate - without blemish
It was impeccable - without flaws
The Means - Elohim is derived from two words first “El” which means mighty, strong, prominent, “The Almighty God” - the strong one ()
The Call of the Name - What does this name Elohim mean to us? There is a wonderful connection that should draw us close to the Almighty Creator of the universe. The Mention -
