Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?”
John
Since receiving his sight, the beggar had been questioned by the Pharisees, left to answer for by his parents, interrogated, insulted and thrown out by the Jews.
Through it all, he progressively gets more fond of Jesus.
He called Jesus “the man called Jesus.”
He later called Him a “prophet.”
He called Him a “godly person that did God’s will.”
Notice the tender care Jesus exhibits. Jesus found him. This means that He was looking for him. Jesus will stand by those who are His witnesses, those that own Him, those who acknowledge Him in truth.
Jesus takes notice in those that suffer for His sake.
The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.
Though there may be those that keep good folks from their communion and fellowship, they cannot keep them from their communion with Christ, nor put the out of the way of His visits!
Jesus will graciously fin and receive those that have been cast out. He is a hiding place for outcasts.
The Lord examines the man’s faith: Do you believe?
And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.

Son of Man vs. Son of God
Use of the the SON OF MAN reminds us that Jesus became man so that He could die. He was the SON OF GOD to show us that He was a deity and lived a sinless life. Together they mean that Jesus was completely man and completely God; the GOD-MAN.
“In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence.
Daniel 13:7
and in the fire was what looked like four living creatures. In appearance their form was that of a man,
Ezekiel 1
He said to me, “Son of man, stand up on your feet and I will speak to you.”
Ezekiel
“Who is he, sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in him.”
Not a question of existence, but a question of belief had been asked. Some think he knew Jesus cured him but did not know which was Jesus and wanted to be directed to Him. Some think that he did know this person was Jesus, that He cured him and H was a good man and prophet, but did not know He was the Son of God.
Jesus said, “You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.”
Physical sight gave birth to spiritual sight. Remember what Simeon said when he first met Jesus?
“Sovereign Lord, as you have promised,
you now dismiss your servant in peace.
For my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you have prepared in the sight of all people,
a light for revelation to the Gentiles
and for glory to your people Israel.”
If we apply this to the opening of the mind, we see the light of Christ unfolding.
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
2 Corinthians
Can we say that by faith we have seen Christ? Can we say we have seen Him in His beauty and glory, in His ability and willingness to save us?
Jesus is much nearer to us than we realize.
Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.
Profession of faith leads to worship! True faith leads to humble adoration. Your belief will give you reason to worship. This is the last we hear of this man. What do you think happened to him?
Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.”
Jesus has spoken comfort to the beggar that was persecuted. Here He speaks conviction to those who persecuted.
2 Thessalonians
God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.
Jesus is revealing that He is speaking as a King on a throne, and a judge upon a bench.
Jesus’ presence brought the necessity to believe or reject Him, dividing mankind into the seeing and the blind.
Jesus works and actions particularly with this man were in public.
Jesus came to save, but in saving some entails condemning others.
Therefore, the judgement comes.
Grace must become grace received.
Grace rejected leads to judgement.
The language comes from prophecy:
Isaiah
Make the heart of this people calloused;
make their ears dull
and close their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed.”
Who is blind but my servant,
and deaf like the messenger I send?
Who is blind like the one committed to me,
blind like the servant of the Lord?
It is speaking of spiritual blindness.
Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, “What? Are we blind too?”
The Pharisees believed they were above reproach. Sin constantly deceives people so they live in falsehood.
Remember
“You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things?
Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.
What were the Pharisees blinded from?
Blinded by pride.
Blinded by self-righteousness.
Blinded by tradition.
Blinded by their false interpretation of the Word of God.
Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.
They gloried in that they were not blind. They claimed to know and were unwilling to learn. Their guilt remained.
Proverbs 26
Do you see a man wise in his own eyes?
There is more hope for a fool than for him.
