Reuben and Gad wanted to settle east of the Jordan in Jazer and Gilead ().
Moses thought they planned to abandon the campaign to take Canaan ().
Reuben and Gad committed to continue the campaign with their brethren until all Israel had come into their inheritance ().Moses said if they kept their commitment to their brethren then they would be blameless before the Lord and their brethren ().But if they failed to keep their commitment their sin would find them out! ().Sin Affects Our Relationship With GodHow we treat others:It is impossible to sin against another person without affecting our relationship to God!If Reuben and Gad failed to keep their responsibility to their brethren then it would be a sin against God (cf. ; ).How we treat God:We can be great neighbors and citizens and still sin against God directly.; ; ; :37Your Sin Will Find You OutMoses statement to Reuben and Gad was to tell them that failing their obligation would bring consequences - UNAVOIDABLE CONSEQUENCES - from God.The consequences of sinning against God are unavoidable because nothing can be hidden from Him (cf. ; ).We will all appear before Him to give account for every sin - and He will know EVERY ONE! ().It is only through the cleansing of the blood fo Christ and faithfulness to the Gospel that we may stand before Him “holy, and blameless, and above reproach” ().
