Not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but being Holy

Eph. 5:25-27     25 ….. Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

Sanctified by Your truth

John 17:17; 17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

This is the will of God

Election—being chosen by God

Eph. 1:4; 4 ….. He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,

2 Thess. 2:13; 13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth,

1 Pet. 2:9 9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of  darkness into His marvelous light;

Foreknowledge—that attribute of God which provided him in advance with all the facts concerning the elect

God has always known what He was going to do;

Acts 15:18; 18 “Known to God from eternity are all His works.

God has always known who would serve Him

Rom. 8:29; 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.

God has always known who the elect would be because He of His foreknowledge

1 Pet. 1:2     elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ:

He has made known to us the mystery of His will

Eph. 1:9-12 9 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, 10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. 11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.

  • the mystery of His will
  • according to His good pleasure
  • which He purposed in Himself, (His own purpose)
  • In Him we have obtained an inheritance,
  • being predestined
    • (knowing all beforehand, He made His plans, according to His will, to fulfill His purpose, in our lives)
