Sermon Series: The Essentials Sermon Title: We Are Genuine Main Scripture: Acts 4:36-5:11 Big Idea: God has not called us to play christianity, but to be genuine followers of Jesus. 1. Genuine - Barnabas was a man who had been changed by the gospel, and he was moving forward in his gospel identity as he followed the leading of the Holy Spirit. a. His motives were pure. b. He was following the leading of God for his life. c. He had a testimony of faithfulness that remained. 2. Imitation - Ananias and Sapphira were believers who had been changed by the gospel, but they were moving forward with their own agenda and through their own power. a. They had religious activity, but not sincerity. b. Their activity was fueled by the applause of men. c. God knew the insincerity of their hearts. Conclusion: What about us?
