The Human Desire for Insurance.

One of the great dangers in our faith is disrearding tghe promises of God’s Word, or twisting those promises into saying something they do not mean.
I have spoken many times on the subject of christian dissolusionment - when we feel let down by God. Now how can God let us down? Well he cant, he is God and He is good - all the time.
But we feel let down when we have an expectation of God, that God does not fulfill o live up to.
Let me make the record straight: If God failed to live up to your expencation then you have a false expectation becauee God cnnot fail.
One of the great false expectations of God is in the realm of Insurance vs Assurance.
many people think or view or understand God and our replationship to him, or our obedine3c to Him as some kind og Divine insurance polocy.
Which boil;s down to the belief that our position as Christians, as God’s children, that our obedience to God Word an our sacrfice somehow means that we are “insured” against hardship, tradgy and trial.
That because you are a cheristian - you wont get sick/ loose your job/get divorced/loose a loved onew. Tht somehow your relatiuonship with God has given you insurance against all thinzes things.
And its common. ma`ny people ask “Why me? i go to church, i read my bible, i love gthe Lord, why did god let this happen to me” - that means that deep down on some level, they thought that their status as God’s elecet insured them against trouble.
My friendsd: Jesusw Christ is not an insurance polocy. I take that back - there is one thing that Jesus Does ensure - Hardship and persecution.
Luke 21:12 KJV 1900
12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake.
John 16:33 KJV 1900
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
No , Jesus is not insurance - the song is not called blessed insurance - Jesus is all abiout Assurance.

Assurance

JMesus does noyt insure us from hardships - But he assures us that he will carry us through and be with us through them all.
What is assurance? iT is the certantity of God’s Word. That is what gives us assurance in troubled times - I feel asured, because of the centantity thats God’s Word is true.
Romans 3:4 KJV 1900
4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
Insurance from God is what youi want when you dont have Faith. you want God to make centain promises to you about your futrure.
Assurance from God is all about faith. It a trust in God and in His Word.
Let me share a few things that God absolutly assures each and every person aliove today:
1: God assures us That: Hell is real and unbelievers will spend eternity there.
Matthew 7:21–23 KJV 1900
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Matthew 25:41 KJV 1900
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
Jesus Christ wants you to know with absoluty certantity that without Him you are doomed.
John 3:16–18 KJV 1900
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Jesus assures us that he who does not believe is condemned. But he also assures us oif something else: His love for us - For God so Loved...
Psalm 13:5 KJV 1900
5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; My heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
This asurance that God loves us and has offered us grace though Jesus Christ and that if we receieve that Grace by faith and are then justified is what us Christians call:

Blessed Assurance

Hebrews 10:19–25 KJV 1900
19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; 21 And having an high priest over the house of God; 22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Blessed Assurance means that you have:
1: Cenrtantity of forgivness:
1 John 1:9 KJV 1900
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Hebrews 8:12 KJV 1900
12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
The forgivness of our sins and the washing away by the blood is not something that any christian should ever doubt in the slightest.
Our forgivness is not based on a work of ny man that is subject to faulre - it is based upon the perfect completed work of Jesus Christ who can never fail.
2: Certantity about God’s continued Presence.
Deuteronomy 31:6 KJV 1900
6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Matthew 28:20 KJV 1900
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
From a garden to the belly of a whale to a lions den to a fiary furnace. Scriptuyre is clear - God is always with His people.
